"Macdonald Hotel Edinburgh "

A really great stay at this lovely hotel we were really pleased with our room and the facilities we had great staff who are always polite and friendly and especially to my wife whose birthday it was the card and little treats were much appreciated from now on this will be our only port of call when staying in Edinburgh.

"Lovely hotel"

Lovely hotel in a good location, very nice spa and pool and not too busy. Breakfast excellent. Would recommend for a stay.

I stayed here years ago and came back this year it still remains a lovely hotel and will return again if ever in Edinburgh. Not the cheapest but worth the money

"Great hotel"

Hotel lovely. It`s is quite a long walk to the bars and restaurants but the thing that makes this hotel special are the fantastic staff that are very, friendly, welcoming and helpful.

A bit further from the railway station than I expected but made for a quiet stay. Rooms were large and the bed comfortable.

"Good hotel with outstanding staff"

Hotels within this price band have a habit of disappointing, not this one, good facilities and outstanding customer care from staff members. Would I consider booking again? you bet!!

Hotel was lovely and modern and very relaxing. There breakfast were excellent. Staff we`re very friendly and couldn`t help you enough. Room was very spacious with everything u possible need with some pleasant extras like bathrobes and slippers. Only down side was the fact I couldn`t open my room window and the air con wasn`t working properly or just was not letting me ajustable it to suit ourself. But 10/10 none the less. We will definetly be back!!

"GREAT THREE DAYS STAY."

really enjoyed the three nights at the macdonald Holyrood,friendly and helpful staff,food excellent with great variety. We dined in the Hotel two out of three nights.

"Excellent stay"

All staff were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Well looked after, room was superb, food at the hotel was lovely, could not fault a thing. Definately would go back.

Really enjoyable stay overall, but no information on hotel offered at check in and no information about hotel facilities in room. Had to contact reception about time breakfast was available and where fotexample. There was a message left on phone but no information as to how to retrieve it. Rooms were tired but refurbishment was in progress according to information in the lobby. Beds not very comfortable.Pool area needs refurbishment, but mens changing rooms out of use so this may have started.Great location.All staff encountered were very pleasant and helpful.Excellent food (breakfasts and dinner).

"Very convenient for Scottish Parliament meetings - Invited to Marie Curie Debate there on 5 March"

We were wakened at 6.50am by phone and informed that a mistake had been made. A piece of luggage belonging to a previous occupant would have to be recovered immediately! When I mentioned this intrusion at Reception in the morning, Robert Shumsky (sounds like) gruffly told me that I should have checked the room before going to sleep! I am a MacDonald Hotel Club member!!

Fantastic stay at the hotel. The staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble. So friendly made you feel very welcome. Lovely warm atmosphere. Will stay again when in edinburgh

"Lack of staff"

The hotel itself was nice and clean, The (concierge) guy at the front door was lovely, he was very helpful and friendly. My only complaint is the waiting staff, We got our table for breakfast and waited and waited for someone to come ask us if we`d like tea and toast, Never happened we had to find someone and ask ourselves, Again it took ages to come, and trying to get someone`s attention for a refil (aaghh), Also our jug of milk when poured into my tea had floaters in it, Not brilliant service.

The reception staff were very helpful, although they were extremely busy as a large wedding party was being held at the hotel. On our arrival the double rooms were not ready, however, we were given an upgrade to a suite on the sixth floor. We had enquired about garage parking, but had not pre booked it, as previously mentioned as the wedding party were staying it was full. We managed to park a few minutes walk away. We went out for a few hours and our return the reception staff remembered that we had enquired about parking and suggested as it was after six on a Saturday we could move our car nearer and park on a single yellow line. We could not believe our luck when a space became available right outside the hotel. Thankyou reception. The hotel is undergoing renovations at present so the restaurant is out of bounds, therefore you need to be aware that if you require a meal you will have to go out.

We had a lovely relaxing stay at the Macdonald Holyrood, first night our hotel room was really cold, the heater was not working properly, we requested this to be repaired or provide us with an additional heater. The hotel reception very kindly upgraded us to the Executive 6th floor, much nice room and felt really safe. The breakfast was great and plenty choice, however felt the chairs looked worn out a bit. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Clean hotel would recommend it !

"Edinburghs Holyrood Hotel made my Birthday extra special"

We had a wonderful three night stay in a lovely bright and comfortable suite. The breakfast choices were plentiful and the staff very helpful. We will definitely return to this hotel and would highly recommend it for its excellent location. We look forward to experiencing other Macdonald Hotels.

"Clean and friendly."

Overall our stay was good, minor niggle in that the kettle took an exceptionally long time to boil, but in general we were very happy with the hotel.

quiet hotel clean helpful staff situation was good for city centre but in a quiet area.Breakfast could have been presented better there were lots of staff in dining room all trying to do same job instead of sticking to tables.thanks for a bargain hotel.
