We`ve stayed here a few times now and would have no hesitation booking again. The standard is consistently great and it`s in the perfect location for The Sage and just a short walk into Newcastle. Staff are always helpful and friendly.

"Great Hotel"
Excellent deal from hoteldirect.co.uk. Very nice and clean hotel in convenient location for visiting Newcastle. Comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Comprehensive breakfast choice. Parking, however, is limited, especially if you arrive later in the evening.

From arrival to leaving, the service was top class. Staff were all very helpful and assisted with anything we needed. Room was tidy. Price was also very good. Couldn`t ask for anymore. Will be staying again.

"Clean but basic, some service issues"
Breakfast was good but despite the fact that must have known that they were fully booked with a large number of delegates for a conference the staff levels were very low. Having to wait at least 45 minutes for a bar meal or a starter in the dining room is not on. Also a very small point but a bar of soap in the bathroom would make bath much more enjoyable than having to stand up to reach a dispenser bottle each time!

My wife wated an age for her meal last night someone forgot to place her order,after propting the staffthe meal arrived but was not good, it had been rushed and was not up to scratch,she was not charged for the meal but it spoilt the night.

I booked an overnight stay with my daughter on a Saturday night. I asked for a quiet room. I was told I would only be able to book a room overlooking the river on the day of my arrival.The room was perfect, a single and a double bed. My daughter was over the moon to sleep in the dbl. Unfortunately all of the pillows were really thick, but it was easily sorted, I asked at the reception desk for a slimmer pillow and it was delivered to my room. I had the best nights sleep in ages. The beds were comfy, it was peaceful all night apart from the very quiet hum of the air conditioning which kept the room lovely and cool. Overlooking the river was worth the extra £10.All the people I met on reception were very helpful. I would definitely recommend staying in a Jurys Inn.

"Fairly new hotel managed as a hostel."
The facilities are pretty good. You can see the hotel is fairly new and everything is still in good condition, but staff could be more helpful and friendly.I couldn`t believe I got asked for a deposit of £100 in a hotel. Honestly, I think you should explain that on your reservations website.Wifi £5/hour? Really?Anyway it served the purpose.

Convenient for visiting The Sage and the Baltic centre (5 mins walk), good riverside location near to the city centre, breakfast excellent and service efficient and pleasant. Would book again.

"Jurys Inn Gateshead"
When I arrived my reservation had not been forwarded to Jurys, but after I showed my reservation and payment to Hotel Direct online, because they had not been advised, I ended up in a superior room which was overlooking the quay. In addition to the usual tv and coffee and tea making facilities in my room there was a hair dryer and an iron and ironing board! When the restaurant closed there were bar snacks available until 4am. Breakfast was buffet style and as much as you wanted. An excellent start to the day.

"Overall, a nice stay but little things still count"
We enjoyed our stay at the Jurys Inn, Gatehead - it`s clean, handy for the Quayside attractions and the staff are very pleasant. Some minor negative points though. 1. The limited car parking available is still an issue. 2. Our room whilst having a fantastic view over the Tyne was quite cold and despite having a thermostatic control in the room, we weren`t able to boost the heat - instructions on its operation was not provided. 3. Just a minor issue with the menu. I ordered Steak and Guinness pie but what came was certainly not a pie - it was more a meat stew with a piece of flaky pastry plonked on the top. 4. No tissues are provided in the room or bathroom and although there was a courtesy tray with milk, tea and coffee, the provision of a few biscuits would have been a nice touch. Don`t let these minor issues stop anyone booking this hotel though - it`s pleasant enough if one is prepared to overlook these minor shortfalls.

a nice hotel with very pleasant staff.the only problem is that there is very limited hotel car parking space which means you have to use the adjoining council car park which can prove expensive overnight or risk parking on yellow lines
