"Hotel restaurant menu confusion"

Decided to book a table at the hotel restaurant as liked the look of the menu in our room. On arrival met by puzzled looking staff member. She took us to our table. Ordered drinks. Took ages to serve us. Presented with set menu for £22 which we said we didn`t want and would like to order from the menu in our room. We were then told we couldn`t order from that menu as it was for the other restaurant. We were not given a choice of restaurant when booking. The service all became a bit elusive . First we were told by a member of staff we could order from the other menu and then we were told by a different member of staff that we would not be able to order. Hence we paid for our drinks and left. This was all most unsatisfactory. I do think it would be helpful to have the name of the appropriate restaurant on the room menus to avoid any confusion.

"Very good."

Our experience of the hotel was very good however we did not eat in the hotel so unable to comment on the food. We used the leisure facilities but was not given the code for the changing rooms only the code for leisure facilities entrance. Comfortable bed, clean, hot water for bath.

We went there for my gf BDay and we had a great time. Hotel is very nice clean. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast in bed, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, gym. Definitely will go again.

"Needs updating"

We waited 20minutes in the que to check in the check in staff seemed very disorganised. The corridor upstairs smelt of old smoke it appeared to be ingrained in the carpet. Not impressed at all for a supposed 4 star hotel.

"Great Staff, Lovely Room"

We stayed here as part of my son`s rugby tour and had an excellent time, the room was very comfortable, clean and cosy. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming, they did everything to make our stay wonderful. I would highly recommend this hotel especially for any big events. The food too was very good both in the evening and the following morning with a wide choice and relaxed atmosphere. Thank you Thistle for a great stay.

Had a two night stay over the new year with my 11 year old son, we had a pleasant experience, friendly helpful staff and comfortable clean room, with the bonus of experiencing the hotel pool facilities, which pleased my son. If I travel to St Albans again I will be sure to choose The Noke, Easy distance to access London which we visited by train on New years day and had a wonderful day, a great experience enjoyed along with a great place we chose to stay.

Staff Friendly and helpfull only issues were no power sockets near a mirror for the ladies and we had interconnecting doors and had noisy neighbours at 3.30am onwards.

"What customer service??"

The Hotel, where we have stayed previously, is lovely. Their organisation, however, leaves something to be desired. having booked a double room - with Free breakfast I was very pleased. To be `confronted` loudly and embarrassingly by a member of staff when about to eat said breakfast and informed - as was the rest of the dining room - that we hadn`t paid for breakfast and would need to pay an additional fee was entirely unacceptable and spoiled the experience. My wife left the meal and was deeply upset - no apology forthcoming although I pointed out that I had my receipt which clearly showed that I had, indeed, paid in full. At reception on leaving this was acknowledged but it remains to be seen if a more formal apology will be forthcoming - certainly not so far at the end of the working day
