"Failure to supply pre-booked room."

Our problems began when we phoned the hotel to night before to confirm our booking and tyhe Hotel had no knowledge of it and asked us to contact their booking dept on a separate number.. This we did and the booking for the night of 4th Dec was finally confirmed OK. When we finally arrived for a romantic week-end at this London Hotel with my wife at 15.00hr yesterday and tried to book in we were informed there was no double rooms available. We had to accept two single rooms instead or have nothing, which is what we finally had to agree to, under protest. The Hotel managements reasoning for this was a failure in the hotels heating system. I find this hard to accept as they could not back it up with evidence. The fact remains, we did not receive the hotel experiance that we had booked and paid for so I would like to claim some compensation. Thank You.

"Dirty and dusty"

There was dust everywhere. The carpet under the desk had not been hoovered for what looked like months!!There were no restaurant facilities despite the site saying there were. I was not informed of this when checking in despite asking to see a sample menu. I had to go to the hotel accross the road where they had an "arrangement" The menu there was pitiful and the food of poor reheated/frozen quality. Breakfast was a dried up buffet affair. Will not use it again.

"Room Size"

The room was far too small. It ws much smaller than seen on the Hotel site. I think Hotels should add the room dimensions in future to enable customers decide on the space adequacy. I could not even move around the bed.

"It was a good location for Earls Court, clean but too hot."

Our room was miniscule with too much furniture for its size, overpriced for the size also.

I had a single room which was very small, but it was comfortable and of good four star standard. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hogarth Kensington. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the room was very cosy--it made you feel at home.

"Staff need to improve their customer service skills."

Was not told when making reservation that £30 credit would be required and on request manager could not come up with any information regarding how this practice was managed, or the terms and conditions covering it. Checkin staff were extremely unhelpful and cold. Taxi driver that was booked by reception staff had no idea where anything was in london and we had to get out and find another taxi - suggest you reconsider who you use in future. Better signage to rooms essential as property is a rabbits-warren. Very attractive rooms however, and reasonable rates.

"Lovely clean room, breakfast revolting"

I do expect a real cup of coffee with my breakfast, and i do expect the bacon and mushrooms etc to at least be warm, not cold and rubbery. It`s a shame, because the rest of the service was pretty good, the staff were friendly, but I won`t be going back if that`s what the breakfast is like.

"Well located - compact, but good value for a short stay"

This hotel was very close to Earl`s Court station so easy to get around London. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful and the room and bathroom, although very small, had everything we needed and was very nice and clean. By the third night, the lack of room was making us a little claustrophobic but this is a good choice of hotel for a short stay. We were on the first floor and, although aware of some vibration from the underground, were not troubled by it at all (it might have been a different story if we`d had a ground or lower ground floor room).

"travel light - rooms a tight fit"

The Hogarth is a modern, clean hotel with friendly staff. It is ideally located for Earls Court tube and hoping on the Picadilly line could not be easier to see the sights. The tube is also a cheaper option for travelling to Heathrow at just £3 single compared to £15 on the Paddington Express.Only draw back is that while it might have been revamped to give it a boutique style, room sizes are a little on the small side. Only enough room to walk round the bed, but it does have a great 32" flatscreen tv - if you can travel light it would be recommdended.

"Very small, double room in basement."

Avoid cramped rooms in basement. We were only there for one night and, with all the noise from an adjacent basement flat (I think), one night was long enough thank you very much.

"posh cell"

decor in room was nice (apart from fag burns in curtains and broken radiator cover) although room was only 8ftx8ft, so small couldn`t open bathroom door and could barely open room door. facilities promised (hairdryer, safe) were not available in room. whole room shook 4-5 times per hour due to being so close to railway, shower did not drain so had to keep switching water off to prevent flood, bathroom floor tiles cracked, kettle was dirty, main light didn`t work. very poor hotel and worst value for money.

"Very cramped conditions."

Although the furnishings were very nice, there was hardly room to swing a cat! Wardrobe space was very limited and wouldn`t have been adequate for a longer stay. Noisy staff outside the room and knocking on the door to see if we were in? We certainly wouldn`t use this hotel again. Breakfast (full English) was substantial but cold.

"Look for alternatives!"

The location and air-conditioning were wonderful, the room was clean (although tiny), but most of the staff were surly and unhelpful, with a couple of exceptions. Soon after I arrived I noticed that the mini-bar wasn`t working - it was actually warmer than the room itself. I notified Reception and it was looked at, with a promise to either repair/replace the fridge or move me to another room - fair enough, as I was staying for 5 nights in a humid London summer. Over the time I was there, I asked a couple of times a day what was being done, having to explain to umpteen staff members, and was promised it would be resolved. It wasn`t. The breakfast-room manager was also rude. As far as the accomodation goes, it`s ok, just doll-sized, but the staff need a major lesson in customer service. I`d never stay there again, and would have changed hotels after the first couple of days if there`d been anything else available.

The single rooms are too small with only a bed and 2 ft around. Also they seemed to be unable to supply a single room away from the tube line

The hotel is in an excellent location although the service was below average, with the incorrect times being provided for breakfast so we missed it despite paying for it and as well having a room that was next to the lift which made it an extremely loud location and despite the check-out time being 12pm we were woken at 7am by the cleaning staff.

"Reception staff not very helpful"

Quirkly layout, but quality & size of rooms good. Train noise would disturb those on business, but for tourists you could live with it, so ask for street room if you think it would be a problem. We had a "lower ground" room (basement to you & me) which was located near to the laundry & kitchen. We found a cockroach in the bathroom, & then one (alive!) in our bed. We were immediately given another room. I think that maybe we were just unfortunate, & don`t want to give the impression that the hotel is in any way dirty - the standards of cleanliness were excellent. At check-in, we were told only which floor our room was on, not given directions to either our room or the dining room. Because of the layout of the rooms, we wandered round for a while before we got our bearings. I found this quite amusing, but if you`re tired & weary from travelling, it could be the straw that broke the camels` back!

"Problem with reservation checkin"

The hotel was nice and clean, staff curtious and helpful, but the only problem that I had was that the room, I was in was constantly shook with the close proximity to the underground rail network!

Unfortunately my Partner was taken ill on Friday and as a result we were unable to travel to London and use the booking. I tried to notify the hotel and Hotel Direct so that the room could be reused. We were unable to make an alternative booking as I do not know when my Partner will be able to travel again. I was told that I would not receive a refund as I had to cancel too late. I am reluctant to use your services again as my Partner`s medical condition is ongoing.
