Friendly helpful staff , location central for easy access to princess street. Details about the car park attached to the hotel misleading - however able to park in 24hr access car park beside the hotel. Room clean and comfortable. Suitable hotel for a short stay

wonderful location as 5 mins walk from Waverley train station. Nice pleasant room and helpful, friendly staff. As a solo traveller I felt comfortable in the bar and the hotel is attached to a shopping centre which was very much appreciated in the cold weather

"Great hotel, great location, next to Playhouse and connected to St James shopping centre. "

Check in was 3pm, we arrived at 2pm and our rooms were ready which was great. Very comfortable beds, modern style rooms, nice bar and great breakfast. It was good that we had up to 11am for breakfast and check out was noon. Hotel was a great location for shops, princes street and playhouse. Overall a great stay and would come back again.

We stayed 3 nights at st James Edinburgh. The bedroom was comfortable and clean and the food was excellent. No complaints although I would suggest upgrading the toilet roll to a softer brand- the toilet roll was quite hard and we ended up buying our own. Also we were unable to open the bedroom window

"Fantastic quality of service, presentation of room, restraunt food, breakfast and IDEAL location"

I would firstly like to say a huge thanks to staff for their friendly manner and their eagerness to be helpfull. The hotel was very welcoming and is of gorgeous design both inside rooms and out. The food was a great standard (especially the breakfast!!) and the location is literally right beside a shopping centre, cinema and restraunts. Prices are also very reasonable. I would definitely reccomend :) Thanks again

"Adjoining room and internal doors need oiling - could hear wardrobe doors creaking. Easy fix. "

All staff were really friendly and helpful. I had a really good stay. Some of the other guests were a bit noisy but not the hotels fault. Room was lovely and clean. Very impressed at the size of the double bed - huge. Would definitely stay here again.

"Friendly helpful staff "

Overall the hotel was good. The staff were friendly and helpful, the full Scottish breakfast was excellent. However the en-suite bathroom left a lot to be desired, the shower tiles grouting was very dirty and the shower curtain stained the lack of an extractor fan made our room muggy. Cleaning the grouting with bleach and replacing the shower curtain would have cost very little and made our visit a better experience. Not sure if I would return to this hotel again even with the good service and food, no excuse for a dirty bathroom.

"Not the best but ok"

The Concierge was very nice and helpful but the desk staff need to get a smile on there faces no matter what time it is. We asked a question at 9.30 at night from the desk clarke and it was like we asked for a money loan. Not a nice experience at all. Room staff very nice.

"Enjoyable stay but some problems"

Our room was good and we enjoyed our stay but the hotel has a few problems that need sorting. eg lifts/ice machine out of order. The reception was poorly staffed & not particularly helpful. For a similar price we have stayed in much better hotels in Edinburgh and I would not recommend this hotel to my friends.

"Disappointing stay"

We were disappointed with this hotel. Reception was understaffed and unhelpful. The room was `tired`. Mould in bathroom/broken fittings/no bedside cabinet. Hotel facilities poor - one lift not working/ice machine not working/no internet facilities available/ 3 Tvs in inhospitable bar. For the price we paid, we expected much better.

"Very pleasant stay"

Very nice hotel. Shame wifi is not included in the room price - even B&B`s include it nowadays.Room 418 had a seal missing from the shower screen and consequently made a puddle on the floor - obviously been like this for some while as the bath panel had a lot of water damage. The meals were excellent and the staff very friendly but professional.
