"Nice, Clean and Welcoming"

Checking in took a little longer than I thought seeing as the room had been booked and paid for in advance. You are also asked for £50 deposit on the mini bar which I think should have been optional as we only required the room as an overnight stop. Rooms and en suite were of a high standard, however slightly tight (twin room). Would use the hotel again in the future.

"It did not state on the web site that the hotel was alcohol free. Big disappointment"

The hotel itself is well located and nicely decorated Rooms are small but clean and well appointed. The staff were not very helpfull and occasionally downright surly. My wife tried to order a sandwitch in the afternoon and was told there was only one menu which consisted of full meals. When she complained she very grudgingly got a cheese and tomato sandwich which had almost stale bread. There was no a la carte breakfast menu. I only wanted cereal and had to pay £18 for a full buffet breakfast. The biggest compaint was the fact that the hotel was ALCOHOL FREE which was not mentionned on the web site. A bit incongruous as they were offering a bottle of champagne in their Xmas draw. All in all not bad value for money if you do not drink and do not want snacks

"Location good, accommodation fair/poor"

When we arrived hotel had no record of our reservation, although I had brought the printed confirmation. They put us in a room in an annex. The decorations were old and tired looking, the carpet did not look particularly clean, the shower and toilet were noticably stained, there was tea but not milk available. We would not stay there again

"Clean and well appointed."

Quite modern in appearance and room 6 was quite spacious and very quiet, although if you are over 6ft tall you`ll have an interesting showerOverall though no complaint. Hotel ideally located for Victoria Station yet set back from noisy main road

"Great location, good rennovation but some problems"

We arrived late but having booked and paid for a double room were given two narrow twin beds so didn`t have the best night`s sleep. The hotel has been completely rennovated and is quite glitzy, having lost many of the traditional features but everything was spotlessly clean and worked. The big problem came with breakfast. The staff could benefit from some English classes - the girl who served us didn`t know what porridge was and, wait for it, didn`t know what poached eggs were when I ordered them. Twenty minutes later when I still hadn`t received my breakfast I asked a different girl but that drew a blank look too. I ended up with scrambled!

"A small but perfectly formed hotel !"

We nearly cancelled out booking after we read the feedback on the website whilst we were checking how to get to the hotel on the day of our stay. The feedback given to this hotel was dreadful so we rang. We were assured that we should come and see for ourselves. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. We had 2 lovely rooms in the main hotel building. The decor was beautiful and all amenities including air con, iron and ironing board, internet access, TV, bathroom stuff such as soap, shower gel etc. We enjoyed our stay which was for only 1 night for a celebration in London and found the hotel very good. I would recommned this hotel for a short stay as long as you stay in the main building!

"-"

We stayed in one of the Mews rooms in the basement which were more than adequate. The hotel reception staff were very accommodating and friendly. The hotel was very clean and situated within a few minuts walk from Victoria station so ideally located. There were a few minorpoints that didn`t impact on our stay but the attention to detail was it`s downfall - such as not being able to close the curtains fully, the TV was to the side of the bed and as such you could not manouvre it to see the screen from the bed, the plug in the huge bath (huge bath always a bonus) didn`t have a plug chain so we had to fashion something from my wife`s make up bag to take it out, the shower door was in need of attention and at breakfast we constatlyhad to ask for things such as milk for cereal, cereal itself as empty boxes were out, teh coocked breakfast was being kept warm by candles which were not adequate and as such had near;y cold bacon, sausage, beans and so on - not great for £15....

"tiny room, comfy (yet small) bed, in a nice area of Belgravia"

room service menu is basic to say the least, service a bit slow but good. not a lot of in-room benefits, no milk with tea and coffee making facilities, neutragena shampoo and soap but that`s it. Not what you expect when the website advertises Molton Brown!

"Lovely hotel!"

The hotel was lovely. Decorated nicely and to a good standerd. All the staff were pleasant, although when it came to checking out, they asked my to pay, even though i had paid in full at the time of booking, through hoteldirect. That is just a communication problem i guess - but it does make your heart skip a beat! Breakfast was ok, but the hot buffet was cold, but the staff said she would get the chef to cook us some more fresh and that wasnt a problem, when it came out fresh, that too was not hot. if they could sort that it would be excellent!!!!!

"Nice hotel with a few issues"

Sadly no cooked breakfast available - each bedroom for my party very hot not information about how to cool them - We were told when checking out that they could have done something about the temperature if we had asked, this is something to be aware of !

"lovely hotel but breakfast was a rip-off"

I stayed one night at Tophams, and paid an additional £14.95 to have breakfast included (booked through an agency). I was told on arrival that the kitchen was out of order due to a fire, and that i would be provided breakfast at a cafe down the road. Although the breakfast was perfectly adequate, from the prices on the cafe`s menu it would have only come to £7.50 had I bought it straight from the cafe. When i went back to the hotel to ask about this the man behind the desk was abrupt, rude & unhelpful, even though there were no other customers waiting. He said that it was the agency that charged me. I would say before you stay here check the kitchen is back in order & if not, then buy breakfast straight from a cafe! Its a lovely hotel, beautifully furnished but the staff were unwelcoming throughout my stay - no smiles or conversation.

"Room was excellent, posh and comfy."

We loved the decor of the room, comfy beds and nice bath. We were also impressed with the look of the lobby and the knight! Nice touch, very trendy. Only thing was I took a shower in Room 103 and the glass next to the wall seemed to leak a little bit. Also, unclear whether about the £3.75 fee for tea/coffee. Was this for the teas and coffees laid out for us? Normally hotels don`t charge for this.Otherwise, everything was great. Really enjoyed it and good location.

"Mistake With Reservation"

The hotel experienced some problem with our reservation and as a result had no room for us. They relocated us to another hotel, which was central and of a good standard; and they also paid for our taxi there. However we had specifically booked Tophams due to location as we had only one purpose to visit London. We had to accomodate our budget for taxis and buses which should not have been necessary. We were offered comlimentary breakfast- but this was only upon request

"Beautiful decor, comfortable to be in and very close to Victoria station"

We stayed for one Saturday night, room only. The room was small and if untidy hard to walk around the room and yet charming, comfortable and would highly recommend.

"A fabulous hidden gem!!"

Have just returned from our first stay, and thought Tophams was a wonderful hotel with beautiful contemporary decor throughout, finished to a really high standard, with very professional and helpful staff, and a great London location. Our room was just gorgeous too! Definately plan to return soon!! Thank you so much.

"Superior room far too small for the price paid."

Asked to see another larger room.Shown but under street level.Believe there were others, hotel not full, but others not offered as an " upgrade ". Ideal position in London but will not stay again other than for two nights max.

"A gem near the hustle and bustle but very tranquil"

We stayed one night at Tophams because we had a prom booked and didn`t want to rush back to Brighton at the end of it. This small hotel was excellent (very effective air conditioning on a very hot night) and beautifully appointed bedroom. HIghly recommended. Only one minor quibble - we asked if they could book us a taxi for the Albert Hall (which with great efficiency was duly summoned) and for a 2 mile journey (maximum) we were asked for £16. Do yourself and your wallet a favour - if you need a taxi walk around the corner and hail a black cab for half the price. All in all we would definitely recommend Tophams

"Very polite, well organised and friendly staff."

Tophams is very conveniently located within a few minutes walk from Victoria Station. The directions provided to the hotal could be improved as I found a much quicker route back to Victoria Station / Victoria Street on the way back.Booking in was actually a pleasure in a very relaxed informal reception area - quick and efficient service. The room I stayed in was relatively small, so a little disappointing initially, however it was very well laid out with modern fittings and I found it to be more than adequate and comfortable. There is a useful lounge area adjoining the cozy bar which is pleasant to relax in.The buffet breakfast is efficiently run with prompt service. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to stay in a central location at a reasonable price and would happily stay there again. Good value for money.

"Don`t be surprised if your in the basement with overhead noise."

Good area and location, friendly staff and nice decor. We were placed in basement over old staircase which resulted in early and late of day noise.

"A delightful boutique hotel in a quiet part of Belgravia but close to Victoria. "

Only drawback is that you can`t get dinner at the hotel other than a limited room service; but there are several restaurants nearby. This is not a hotel for large public rooms; rather a haven of comfortable peace.

"Superb hotel!"

The Tophams Hotel is a wonderful, bright and modern hotel conveniently located not more than 3 minutes walk from London`s Victoria station. The recently refurbished rooms are tastefuly decorated, clean, reasonably spacious and superb value for money. After our first and highly enjoyable overnight stay at this wonderful hotel my wife and I decided to revisit it to make sure the first time wasn`t just a fluke. No surprise, our second visit was just as enjoyable as the first. We`ve now decided to make The Topham`s Hotel "our" hotel and intend to use no other when we visit London.
