La Giralda is the bell tower in Seville Cathedral converted from a beautiful minaret that was part of the Moorish Mosque that preceded the Cathedral. It is one of the few remnaints of the original Mosque. Seville and it Moorish Mosque fell into the Christian hands in 1248 but work on the Cathedral did not commenced until 1401 and was completed in 1507. Hotels near Giralda are in the centre of Seville.
