"staff very polite and helpful. Food excellent for breakfast with big choice"

Disappointed with cleanliness. Please clean your windows and the glass panels in doors. Just back from Kathmandu and their hotels gleam! Bar very mucky and sticky and tops of units in room. Taps need to be polished and plug hole cleaned. Try a bit harder!

"Will never stay here again, regardless of how cheap it is"

Rooms are very basic and nothing special. The fire alarm went off at 3am and proceeded to do so untill 4.30am. At the time we were told it was due to electrical problems bt then we were evacuated on to the street for a supposed fire that never actually revealed itself. Finally, we were sent back to our rooms when the alarm went off again. Needless to say it was a terrible evening. Not helped by the fact that you can hear everything on the corridors and it takes 10 minutes just to walk to your room.

"Ideal Overnight stay"

Easy to get to with the shuttle bus.. very efficiently booked in when we arrived and staff very helpful. Accomodation was all you need for an overnight stay and was very clean and tidy. Thanks and we will certainly use the Thistle again. Jim Brown

"hotel was okay"

although i gave my credit card at check in and 600 pounds was authorized i was not able to charge things to my room and i did not have water in my room for a day

"Damp and Noisey"

We were unfortunate to stay in the room right next door to the supplies stores where we were subject to staff shouting from one end of the corridor to the other from 8am onwards. We received a very small twin room instead of a double with wheels on the beds to keep the beds apart. The breakfast was nice although the service was frustratingly slow. After a sleepless night in a stuffy room with inadequate air we were desperate for a cup of coffee. I would have helped myself but unfortunately we were forced to wait for an absent waiter. Staff were friendly and helpful and neglected to charge us for parking. That being said, parking was extremely difficult and poor signage from a "back alley" car park saw us wondering around looking for doors into the hotel.

Great location and polite service however our first room stunk of cigarette smoke -the smoke detector had a sock covering it. We asked to change rooms and the second room had a toilet that didn`t always flush. I cant understand how these problems were not fixed before paying guests stayed in them.

"I cannot believe you call this place a 4 star hotel - rediculous"

The food was awful, the service was bad, the room was tiny there wasn`t even room to unpack our stuff. Aldo the bathroom was shocking and outdated, I`ve stayed in nicer youth hostels. The walk to reception with the bags was awful, the fire doors opened the opposite way to you were walking and was impossible to get bags through. I won`t be using thistle hotels again or your website so please take me off your mailing list

"Change the beds!"

While staff were excellent and service excellent we found the beds are at the end of their life. We had twin beds and you could feel the springsand you tended to roll to the edge giving you the feeling og falling out of bed. Also the pillows were not comfortable.

"Resturant manager needs A kick up the backside, or the sack."

Check in was ok, I was assured I would have my complimentry breakfast, went to breakfast, was questioned even after i had given my room number, to a waitress with tattoos on both hands, asked for some fizzy water, when it did arrive i was told by manager i would have to pay for it. i had to explain it was on the menu as part of the breakfast items,! before he realised his mistake, I felt a bit humiliated even at 0630 and other guests were around.

"Needs to be refurbished."

Unfriendly receptionist - not pleasant after a long flight! Room was basic; very small bathroom with no room to put anything except on the floor. Bed was average and pillow/s far too soft. Very noisy room. Breakfast was good with good service.

"Excellent restaurant and food."

We`ve stayed at many hotels over the past 2 years, but your staff are by far the best we`ve had - in the restaurant. They were so very keen to help - from the cook to the waiter. They had nice smiles and were wanting to assist. We had a young English man serving us and he was terrific - on Saturday night. Food was good on Sat evening as well. Breakfast food was good - but hot food was cool !! We think your hotel is exceptionally well located and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the verandah and watching the aircraft flying by!! Your staff elsewhere we so, so.

"Close to airport"

On arrival there was no reservation booked but fortunately I had taken with me our printed confirmation and we were accommodated with no trouble. Our room was fine until toilet lever broke at 9.00pm. We were moved, again with no trouble, though we found it a bit of a hassle having to repack some items. Our new room however was less comfortable with no tea/coffee making facility, a hard mattress and a very old air-conditioner. Trying to find reception from second floor with no lift was a bit of a maze. Given London charges it was affordable and for 1 night adequate but I wouldn`t want to be there as my holiday destination.

"Pleasant, clean, comfortable quiet."

On a Saturday evening the only option for a light casual meal was the bar which on a hot day was not a/c so that left room service. Staff were courteous but a smile and a warmer, lighter approach would be appreciated.

"Location & service"

Well located at Heathrow airport but well serviced by the Hoppa bus. Despite proximity to runways rooms are well insulated against aircraft noise. Very good dining facilities

"Near Heathrow, but early morning guest noise can be bothersome"

The air conditioner did not work in the first room assigned, so a room move was necessary. Although near Heathrow, airport noise was low. However, many of the guests begin to make morning noises around 06:00, so sleep can be disturbed. The Thistle is close to a bus line, but the free bus available on perimeter roads is not available. For travelers who plan to stay there without an automobile, daily rail/bus passes are a must.

"Good overall, and did the trick. "

The breakfast was excellent. The facade of the hotel was rather tired looking and not very welcoming, though the reception area was done up nicely. The room we stayed in was adequate, though extremely small (you couldn`t even sit on the loo properly because the toilet roll was jabbing into you).

we arrived at the hotel at 22.40 and checked in . we asked if we could order food as we hadnt eaten for many hours ,we were told we could get food in the bar until 1 am. on reaching the bar we were told that it was closed for food. tried to order room service without success, it never came!!! in bathroom only one towel, only one bottle of water, no shower cap,just an empty packet.!

"poor customer service"

Although the hotel was clean, it was poorly ventilated, and the staff were useless, and very unhelpful very unproffessional and didnt know what they were doing they even tried to charge us again for the room. Not impressed or happy at all.

"what a plaver"

first i arived and enquired as to the avalbilty for some dinner was told this was no problem just a bit limeted , when i phoned room service 5 mins later was told there was no chef on and that i could get a packet of crips from the vending machine , nice . Then to be woken up at 6 in the mornning buy a god orfale racket , to die down at about 7 then to have hose keeping wake me agen at 8 not impressed, and to top it all off was told thay couldnt brake a £10 note down for the shuttel bus what a joke

"Not the best experience..."

Contested the free breakfast included with the booking. Expensive room service. 3am phone call for a cab I didn`t request. noise from corridor very noticeable. No free wifi. Just not our best hotel experience...
