"Fantastic modern hotel in a fantastic central location!"

My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Doubletree for our wedding anniversary between 30th July and 1st August 2011. This hotel has recently had a re-furb and is very modern, clean and tidy. Just the way we like it! The hotel is extremely central and during our stay we didn`t use the underground once. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

"very satisfied with hotel and all amenites, but the only blot was , see review below "

when we asked the conciege to order us a taxi ,it was a mini cab and no hire charge was displayed so it cost us 20 pound. When we got a london cab. back it only cost 12 pound for the same journey, and it was later in the evening when taxi,s are supposed to cost more. I fetl that the concierge may have favoured the mini-cab driver other than a proper london cab.

Very clean, friendly staff, good position. Another couple of staff on duty for breakfast would have been useful to top up buffet and clear tables. Would book again.

"Very Pleasant"

Great location and smashing breakfast. Maybe I was lucky last year to be upgraded to a great room on the fifth floor as this time my double room was pretty small but spotlessly clean. View not good but lovely staff and an enjoyable comfortable stay

"Nice contemporary feel -- good deal for the price -- internet access too expensive"

I enjoyed the hotel -- for me the best possible location in London. My only complaint is the GBP 15 per day charge for internet usage. This is really a rip-off!

"Very comfortable hotel with good location. Staff were very helpful"

The hotel was very good, we were able to walk from St Pancras station. Found it easily. The beds were very comfortable, good provision in the rooms. Very clean air conditioning too noisy had to switch it off at night. We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening. the food was very good but the service was a little slow, and they were not particularly busy. The breakfast included in the price was very good, lots of choice. i would certainlt stay there again.

"simply excellent"

situated well for theatres, shopping and restaurants we were given a very warm welcome with a hot cookie and were upgraded to a superior room which was very clean, spacious and homely with everything you need. Salvatore on reception was excellent, very good advice and nothing too much trouble. Good cooked buffet breakfast, large choice and quantity. Would highly recommend.

"Close to all attractions"

Had a lovely stay in London our room was a twin and was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was also good value for money. Holburn underground is only a 5 minutes walk which is straight on the piccadilly line. Covent Gardens is also worth a visit and only 10 minutes walk. Have a fab time also recommend going to watch Ghost in Piccadilly.

"Good Hotel and West End Location"

Hotel was good, the warm chocolate chip cookies on arrival was a nice touch. Rooms were clean and compact. The odd niggle was dealt with immediately, nice efficient service. Breakfast buffet was good with hot and cold choices.

"Would definitely stay again"

The hotel is, at present, undergoing a major refurbishment. The bar area seems to be finished and is very pleasant and comfortable and all the staff we encountered during our short stay were very friendly and helpful. Our room was up on the third floor where a lot of refurbishment work is going on. There are notices apologising and explaining about this ongoing work and quite honestly it really didn`t bother us at all. My overall rating is `good` instead of `excellent` but I`m sure the hotel is striving towards excellence very soon. On what we experienced I can recommend this hotel for sure (and it`s in a great location). Oh yes, one more thing... we were staying B&B and I have to say the breakfast was very good indeed.

"hotel in good spot for a London visit"

We had a good room overlooking main road which was noisy but suited us as we had plenty to see.Staff were all very helpful and friendly and it was clean and well decorated. The breakfast was good but not as good as Hiltin Metropole where we stayed last year which offered a magnificent choice but wasnt in as convenient an area. However we would use Doubletree West End again.

"Enjoyable Stay"

Very good hotel, only 5 minutes walk from Holburn underground or 4 minutes from Russell Square underground. 15/20 minutes walk to Covent Garden, within walking distance to most theatres. Although still undergoing refurbishment there was no disturbance to our stay. Room was an adequate size, clean, toiletries, hospitality tray, air conditning unit on wall. Buffet breakfast very good plenty of choice, staff very nice and helpful, lovely touch on reception after registration you are given a cookie which was heavenly. Would not hesitate to stay again.

"Very nicely refurbished."

There are still some minor refurbishment works being completed but overall the hotel facilities were very good. We were pleasantly surprised by being upgraded to an Executive room. The only complaint I would have is that the shower was useless. It needs a stronger flow of water.

"The hotel is convenienly is situated a short walk from the West End and the British Museum."

Very impressive reception/lounge/bar area, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Rooms very clean and refurbished to a high standard although our twin was very small and I had to re-arrange the furniture to save falling over things. I did enquire prior to my visit by e-mail to have sent a menu for the pre-show menu and although they sent messages saying they had received my question to my home address, some whilst I was checked into the hotel, I am yet to receive the menu but in general I feel that I got what I paid for was not disappointed and would highly recommend the experience to prospective visitors. On a final note the hot breakfast buffet was excellent and really sets you up for the day.

"Good location, clean, smart and great breakfast!"

really good for our one night stop over in London but not sure our room, a twin, would have been big enough for much longer than that. overall a really nice place....the welcome chocolate chip cookie was also very, well....welcome!!!

"Good hotel but hot water system let it down"

Staff at reception were efficient and helpful. The room was small but comfortable. The only significant problem was the lack of hot water in the morning. It took ages to come through, and even when it arrived it was erratic and never got really hot. Otherwise would recommend this hotel

whilst the hotel`s name has changed several times the very good standard and quality of service has remained! However the present refurbishment/upgrade has greatly enhanced the experience of the guest arriving in what now is a quite lavish and clever combination of both functional and aesthetic considerations. Having stayed at the hotel many times I consider this present re-fit to have been the best! Whether known as the Doubletree/the Park Inn or the Bonnington - 92, Southampton Row is the hotel to be staying, for it`s location and effort to look after and cater for its guests!

Booked this hotel when it was the Park Inn russel square, arrived at The Double Tree Hilton so was already better than expected! Initially put in a twin room, rather than the double i`d booked, however, was moved very quickly and efficiently to another room, on the executive wing, at no extra cost! Considering the hotel was in the final stages of an £8M refit our stay was excellent, no complaints about the hotel, staff or facilities. All were fantastic.

"Overall Average"

1st time we stayed at this hotel, the rooms were fine and comfortable and the breakfast was great. However being woken up at 7am on a Sunday morning due to kids running up and down the corridor and banging on doors was not impressive. Most of the staff we found difficult to understand as English was not their first language. However the breakfast staff were really friendly and helpful.

"Hotel to be recommended"

This hotel was central, within walking distance of theatre, shops, restaurants. The bedroom was well equipped and the beds very comfortable. Had a drink in the bar and the staff were friendly. Excellent breakfast which set us up for the day. The highlight was the `Welcome Biscuit` which was absolutely delicious. What a lovely idea!

"Huge expenditure has not improved breakfast or bedrooms"

We have been staying here for about 15 years when it was the Bonnington. Park Hotels upgraded bedrooms and corridors (cheaply) only a few years ago and they are already showing signs of wear. Many rooms face onto the central well which is a tip. The new decor in reception and restaurant is expensive modern and naff. The thing which has never changed is breakfast which is unworthy of an upmarket chain. No decent muesli, no fresh grapefruit or orange segments (all prepared fruit is tinned except water melon), conserves are cheap and very poor quality, What about real fresh yoghurt? The only really good item is the uncut brown loaf!

"On arrival I was told our room had been Double Booked."

We arrived at thehotel and was asked to wait to see the Reservations manager. After 45 minutes we were told our reservation had been double booked and there was no rooms available. We made our reservation in January 2011 and fully paid at the same time. We were offered another Hotel "just round the corner and of similar star rating. The hotel was 40minutes away poutside the city and didn`t provide snack meals until after 6.00pm. Because of the delay we missed our 3.30pm sitting of a tea at the Ritz and will forfiet the £80.00 fee paid. Our special city break was ruined and left us in tears. We shall be making a demand of repayment of our total hotel fee and payment of the cost of our lost events.

"Excellent hotel with well presented clean rooms. Breakfast was really good. Staff helpful"

This hotel is handy if you want to go to British Museum in particular as it is in easy walking distance. We took a taxi to it from Euston station and the cost was just over £5. London tour buses stop close by also. Only negative aspect was dinner menu and food which was disappointing but there are plenty of other places to eat round and about.
