"Friendly staff, good location, very enjoyable stay"
The member of staff that checked us in provided very useful information throughout our stay and was always happy to help. The room was very nicely furnished and clean. The little pool on the roof with the area above to sit in was very handy at the end of the afternoon when you are hot from walking around the city. The only negative comment is that the bath was very slippery after having a shower.

Our stay was very enjoyable. Hotel was clean throughout and staff were courteous and helpful. We weren`t over impressed with the the buffet breakfast. The choice was limited and overpriced. We ate out after the first morning. Our room did not have a window to view outside the hotel which was disconcerting. There was a window which opened on to an enclosed shaft contai ing pipework which let in a little light but offered no view other than another three tiled walls, a bit odd.

"good convenient location"
just a few steps to the metro and you can go anywhere, not the prettiest area but so convenient. The hotel was between good & excellent there were a few things that you could moan about but it was overall very good. One tip buffett brilliant restaurant food tried once awful

"Hotel was lovely and clean and the staff were very attentive"
The hotel was close to the main las ramblas it was very clean and the staff did look after you, nothing was too much trouble. My only criticism is that with us having a room on the Main Street it was very noisy right through the night, it must be on the main hospital route because the sirens went off every night. I am sure if you get a room at the back of the hotel it would be a lot better. We would go back to that hotel again but we would request a room at the back of the hotel.

"Good hotel"
We did have a small problem with lack of electricity but the staff sorted this out and compensated us in a sufficient way. There was a bit of noise from the busy street so maybe ask for a room at the back of the hotel. The breakfast wasn`t included in our particular rate and we found the 15 euro charge per person a bit over the top. However, overall the rooms were clean and very nice and it was a comfortable stay. The area is nice and close by to local sights.

"Good hotel great location "
Good hotel with good sized rooms with quite air con , good sized bathroom with shower all well maintained. great location @10mins from Ramblas , main street is lively so rooms at front can be noisy , we had an interior room (no view) but room was nice and quiet . We travelled with 4 other couples who also thought hotel was good. Breakfast was okay with choice of hot and cold foods , can be busy at popular times but staff cleared tables quickly to ensure wait not too long. Lots of street cafes , bars outside hotel and area very safe to walk around. Went to senyor paradella restaurant , fantastic food and very good prices.

We found the Hotel to be very pleasant. The beds were comfortable and the linen was clean. The staff were very helpful in guiding you to attractions etc, There was an issue with the pool initially but this was fixed within 2 days. Very good location within walking distance of the harbour and las Ramblas. Would Highly recommend

"Fantastic Hotel!"
We stayed at the Hotel for 2 nights from 3rd to 5th August on a Hen Weekend. Rooms excellent, clean, spacious and with no noise issues. Far enough away from the Ramblas but within easy walking distance. Staff friendly and helpful at all times and communicating with them was relatively easy given our lack of Spanish dialect. A little disappointed that the Pool Bar closed fairly early but maybe they have established that demand for it to be open later wasn`t required. Overall would recommend to anyone staying in Barcelona and if I ever make a return trip I would be happy to stay there again.

"Value for money!"
Excellent hotel in terms of metro transport -- Metro station is just outside the hotel and can get you anywhere around the city in no time at all, which is brilliant...also, the hotel service is a 5* plus, very polite, helpful and considerate...about the room, nice, comfort and it has everything you would expect from a 4* hotel...however, I did notice that the room cleaning service is a bit lower than expected - e.g., we had some snacks the night before and noticed the following day that sofa/chair were still covered with some crumps...that`s the only downside for us.

For the entire party of 6, we would all definitely stay here when we return to Barcelona. Service is fantastic, hotel is very comfortable and any requirements we had were fulfilled immediately. A fantastic hotel!

"Superb Hotel"
We chose this Hotel as a stop over before joining our cruise ship. It has a superb location, near the `Ramblas` and Port. English speaking staff very helpful and rooms very clean and comftable. We had a room at the front which had a bit of traffic noise... No tea/coffee facilities in the room but overall very good value for money. Would choose this again on next Barcelona trip.

"Upmarket hotel in very convenient part of the city"
Very professional staff running a classy hotel, couldn`t expect more really. Being a Brit. I really missed the room tea and coffee making kit but whatever. Important things include..... Great beds Excellent room cleaners Nice bathroom Decent flat screen Great , multilingual reception staff Metro to everywhere just outside the hotel. Oh one thing, be prepared to get out of the immediate locale if you want decent food.

We had an enjoyable stay at the Universal Hotel. It is a convenient location, however, road noise is a problem in the rooms. The breakfast is awful - extremely over priced for very poor quality food.

"Good quality hotel in good location for the tourist attractions."
The hotel was in a great location for doing the tourist attractions and only a 10 minute walk from the port and The Ramblas. Also on the main line for the football stadium with the tube just outside the door. The staff were friendly and there was a lovely outdoor small pool at the top of the hotel if the weather was hot. All the hotel was clean and in good decoration. Our room was at the front of the hotel and although very noisy at night with the traffic we slept fine - I just wear earplugs. I would definitely stay here again as the quality of the hotel was good for the money we paid.

An excellent hotel in a superb location within easy walking distance of La Ramblas and the port with easy access to the metro. Rooftop area of the hotel is perfect for relaxing after your day and the rooms are well proportioned and comfortable. Only drawback is the lack of tea and coffee making facilities but packing a travel kettle sorts this, the mini bar fridge is big enough to hold additional bottles of water and there are plenty of shops in the local area to buy this and anything else you might need. Staff were helpful when we needed it and are happy to hold luggage on check in/out day if required. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

"A super hotel in the centre of Barcelona"
We found the hotel very smart, modern and comfortable. It is situated in the heart of the city centre with La Rambla as easy stroll away and right beside the metro which is very easy to use. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. It was lovely to relax by the pool on the roof terrace after lots of sightseeing!

The Barcelona universal hotel is a lovely hotel central to everything 5 min walk from the ramblas & a short taxi ride to the olympic port. & the metro & bus stop is right outside. we found the staff very helpfull they gave us excellant pointers of how to travel to various places & the cheapest & easiest way to get there. the breakfast was good apart from the scrambled eggs were VERY SALTY. we will definatley be returning to this hotel.

As a group of 5 girls aged 21 this hotel was excellent.close enough for us to walk to las ramblas but an ideal situation as it is not located in the centre.we had two rooms a triple and a double both had plenty of room for all of us to get ready.excellent facilities with the solarium being our favourite for relaxing.lovely Views and brilliant to have a bar located at the pool.staff were very friendly and helpful. I would defiantly recommend this hotel!!
