"Problems caused by computer system failure and rooms double booked"

We arrived at the Park Lane Mews Hotel to find a system error and some rooms had been double booked. The hotel staff did their utmost best to resolve the problem but to no avail. We were then told that 2 single rooms were available and took them up on their offer of one of these rooms as we were meeting friends within the hour and needed to resolve. With this the hotel staff could not have been any more helpful and did their best to offer us drinks on the house and free breakfast. In our view the hotel staff were excellent in dealing with this and we would like to thank them personally for their help and sense of humour whilst dealing with our problem. Other than this our stay at the hotel was a pleasant one.

Hotel was very pleasant, and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean and very comofrtable, but the bathroom seemed very tired and in need of refurbishment.

"I would definitely stay here again!"

This is a lovely little hotel with lots of charm and character. The staff was friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome. Good location close to pubs and transport. Probably not for someone who likes new, high tech, spotless accommodations ... but very comfortable and homey.

"Sufficient, no frills."

A bit disappointing, did not seem like a 4 star hotel to me! We were not made to feel very welcome by the receptionists when we arrived and found them quite unapproachable. We stayed in room 109 & it just seemed a bit tired. The voile curtain was grubby with a hole in it, the carpet was dirty, the tiles in the bathroom had seen better days & the bath itself had chips out of the enamel. It was adequate for what we needed for 1 night but I don`t think we will return to that particular hotel!

"worn out mattress, pathetic shower and no hot water in the morning."

the position is great; the staff were helpful and polite; the decor has passed shabby chic and is just shabby; the room was ok; the mattress was absolutely knackered and severly uncomfortable; the shower was a trickle - which was cold the following morning. On the basis i was out for dinner and leaving before breakfast the following morning the function of the hotel was for me to have a couple of showers and a good nights sleep - not a great outcome really !!

"Great Central Location!"

I was delighted with the Park Lane Mews Hotel, the exterior is Ivy clad, giving it a charming boutique hotel feel, the lobby is arranged to feel welcoming with cosy sofas, oriental rugs, interesting artwork and such friendly staff. The room, although snug was well designed and had everything I needed including free WY Fi access which is so important. I will be back!!!

"The standard of decor and facilities was average"

The receptionist on arrival was very helpful and extremly friendly and the receptionist in the morning was rude and ill informed. Her approach was that of negativity before checking her facts. Average hotel for the area.

"mmmh could be so nice this hotel but sadly it isnt"

I was quite excited when we pulled up in the taxi to stay at this hotel, it looked lovely from the outside and is in a excellent spot but all that changes when you walk inside, the reception is VERY VERY tired, the arms on the chairs are flithy and the whole area smells a bit like josh sticks. not very fresh smelling.. hoping our room would be slightly better, it wasnt, the room was very very small. The nets that were hanging at the window had not been washed for god knows how long as they were black. the carpet was pretty old and worn out too. Makes me wonder about the bed sheets. its such a shame as it hotel could be a beautiful boutique hotel if it was just looked after a bit better. sadly it has been left to just rot away really. a shame

"Excellent reception on arrival. Somewhat disappointed with rooms as not in main hotel. "

We were warmly welcomed on arrival. Having booked a twin bed for 1 night we were put into a large apartment next to the hotel. There was only one main door key held by the hotel so one had to ask to be let in. There was then two flights of steep stairs. Staff v helpful with luggage. The apartment was o.k though we found that the shower did not work as the controls had vanished. There was an alternative bath & shower but it was not great.. We had to wait for hot water to heat up as all electricity was turned off. We also had to find the fuse box to turn on electricity to heat a kettle. Beds needed new mattresses. It all felt a bit like a staff flat but the price was very good for central London and suited our purpose for a one night stop. The staff were excellent.

"Quaint but could do with redecoration and updating"

Decoration tatty. Housekeeping needs looking at - chairs in room had crumbs and dust. Side surfaces not wiped down in bathroom - silicone around bath black. No flannels and only large towels - no small towels. Room service tray left in corridor from 9pm (0vernight) moved along corridor but still there at 11.30am next morning. Mattress extremely hard. On a plus point the staff were charming and welcoming - just the hotel needs updating and cleaning properly.

"Overall we found the hotel good and our stay was pleasant"

We would prefer proper bar facilities. While the food at breakfast was good, we found the service not good. The staff were very anxious to clear away. They had to be asked for essentials such as cultlery. They poured tea as we arrived in the dinning room, despite the fact that we were only having cereal at that time. When asked later for a fresh cup of tea they at no time offered to bring a pot, though when asked they did so.The toaster was turned off while still in use. Just to clarify, There were six in my party and we were at breakfast before the deadline on each of the two mornings that we spent in the hotel.

"Staff always very friendly, but rooms incredsibly cold. Heater broken."

I have stayed before and had problems with the heating and again i had problems and tried 2 rooms, they supply portable heaters but with the snow and thin blankets on the bed it was a long night. Position wise hotel is excellent.

"Needs some TLC"

I was upgraded to an apartment on arrival which was large, but becoming a bit jaded - some shower fitments missing, sizeable crack in shower room ceiling, iron framed kitchen windows rustry etc. Good value for the internet booking, but definitely NOT for the rack rate!

"Charming mews hotel full of traditional character right off Park Lane but in old London."

We had a delightful stay at this hotel. It was a very quiet time of the season and London experiencing an Arctic freeze at the time. Consequently we did feel as though we were about the only guests in the hotel. This gave for very good personal and friendly service but rather quiet. As it was so cold we did need extra blankets which we were given when we asked. Perhaps it would have been good if these had been offered. However the impression was a good one and if you offered this very good price again I would love to stay here again .. so please keep me posted!

"run down but pleasant staff"

We spent the duration of our stay without hot water and were forced to take cold showers. Fitted room heating was not working and was replaced by a small temporary electric oil radiator which was inadequate .There were two phones in the room but only one was working, Overall the hotel was a shadow of it`s obvious former glory. The current owners appear to have alowed the building to deteriorate in to a run down state. I have forty years experience as a travel professional and really cannot see why this hotel carries a four star rating when a three would be far more appropriate. We complained to the very pleasant manager and staff who were unable to offer any kind of compensation but suggested that we write to the owners, This of course we intend to do,My sympathies extend to the staff who obviously have to work in a difficult environment,

"Room in desperate need of refurbishment. (Room 409)"

My request for a quiet room on the back of the hotel was met. But I was very disappointed with the state of the furnishings eg battered cupboards and worn carpet. I need a hotel room on Wednesday 12th November. I would like to stay with you, if you have a quiet room on the back which has been refurbished. Please let me know. Thanks

"Small room - large bill"

Reasonably comfortable, but for the price i would expect a less cramped room, and a bath that one could stretch out in. Very basic accomodation. Breakfast was pretty good. Shame the milk wasn`t fresh

Travelling on business as a single woman it is great to find a small hotel of good quality in a great location and I would recommend it. Some updating may be required in some rooms but basically very good. Molton Brown toiletries very much appreciated!

"A triumph of external style over internal substance."

A pretty, well located hotel, with a very good reception experience. There it ended. A small bedroom that stank of stale cigarette smoke; an undersized bathtub; an amateur bar service; a distinctly overpriced and average experience.

"quiet comfort in central London"

We got a very good price, room was comfortable and location is quiet. Charming reception / lounge area. 2 minor critisisms - curtains were becoming detached and shower head angle was not adjustable and flow was very close to the wall.

"The hotel is a little tired now with parts that need attention."

For the money I didnt think it represented good value. The service was good and the place was clean, but other things let it down. The wireless internet was very weak and intermittant, and the bath and shower look like they need replacing. Shame really as it is a good location.

"Great Food, Good Location, Poor Plumbing"

Have stayed 3 times at the Parklane Mews and each time we have had a problem with the plumbing, however, the staff are very friendly and the food is very good There are some good pubs and restaurants in the area and the hotel is in a quiet location yet conventient for buses and trains.

"room was quite small, bath not full size and room had some problems"

surprised by size of room, just room for bed and able to walk round it. bathroom was small with not a full size bath, Im 5ft 4 and i could not stretch legs out when sitting up in it. Air conditioning was showin fault - service needed so was not working properly, smoke alarm (was flashing red, but was not so apparent until you were trying to sleep and room was dark, not sure what this ment but too late to do anything, 2.30am after our function we attended so need to go to sleep. Carpet in the room was very dirty and only 2 tea bags (to have normal tea with milk soo just enough for a cuppa on arrival and a cuppa for morning. travelodge a buget hotel give plenty.....I expect more for a mayfair hotel.... travelodge rooms were more spacious and just as comfortable... and there budget. The price paid was good for location but you expect cleanliness and things to work for your money, disappointed.
