"excellent will definitely stay again"

very clean room, central for getting about in London three minutes from Tottenham court rd tube. did have a problem with our room but soon sorted out. Breakfast outstanding for the money.staff very pleasant.will definitely stay there again.

"Very poor hotel"

Arrived @2:30 - Room not ready. Went to use toilets in reception, stank of stale urine, no soap or hand towels. When finally got in room, smaller than my caravan & grubby. Lift was broken - had to use stairs. No toilet paper. When I asked for some, I was told to go to reception. No lift, had to use stairs No shower gel in shower. Batteries in rv remote dead. This is basic stuff people... Get it right!

"What we wanted "

Clean white sheets, very clean bathroom with nice white towels. Comfy bed & pillows. Fridge & safe that work, overall clean room. We would go back.

Been coming here for at least 15 years and love it every time.So looking forward to our seeing the lift lobby`s finished.

"Location was good"

Room tiny and crampt though bed was clean and comfortable. There was no air con or working fan so we had to have the window open. Most of the night there were people shouting in the street below which kept us awake. The breakfast was awful. Tinned fruit ? Really ? No pastries just white bread rolls. Coffee awful. Wouldn`t stay at this hotel again. Staff friendly though

Room was very small. No tea spoons, no air condition. Carpet outside of the room was poor, hoover was left outside of the room for the whole time.

"In one word awful!"

Dirty, dirty, dirty! Grime and slime in the shower, blocked drains, empty shower/shampoo dispenser and absolutely no sign of a hoover! Rubbish (tissues, shaving items) in the corridor leading to our room on the 2nd floor was there when we arrived and still there when we left 2 days later. Broken AC, fan and light fittings in the room. All reported but only the fan replaced when they were presented with it! Interestingly housekeeping were very keen to get into our room on our departure day. We had a 7.30 knock on the door asking if they could come in!!!! No checkout is at 11am and we didn`t want an early morning wake up call!!!! Positives, very central but not enough to makes us return ever. 3* rated but not an excuse not to be clean.

"Giles Hotel"

Clean and comfortable. The room was small with very little ventilation. It was a very hot night and we did need the window open albeit only opened a little bit but this did mean it was very noisy for most of the night.

"Good place to lay your head for the bight"

The room was nice and simple. The bed seemed to be smaller than a normal double and the room was pretty small too. It was perfect for a short stay but I think you would struggle to be comfortable if staying there for a week

Extremely noisy room (114) into the early hours of the morning. It is as if the double glazing windows do not work. We normally make light of small inconveniences but this complaint really needs attention. Poor lighting - supplied by headboard lights - no ceiling light to shed light onto the dressing table. Very helpful and knowledgeable concierge staff. Central location very helpful. Can we take an opportunity to thank the staff of hoteldirect for arranging our travel, theatre and accommodation so efficiently. We will use your services again.

"Good hotel needing TLC"

Third visit but slightly disappointed with general state of premises although it does appear to be getting a makeover which would have been nice to know beforehand. Standard Rooms are smaller than some other chains but well enough equipped for the time spent in it. Staff courtious, concierge excellent.

I often visit the British museum and this hotel is my first choice. Easy to get to from the major train termini and a short walk to the British museum, the national gallery, the theatre district and China town. Culture, entertainment and food are in the doorstep.

"Review of St Giles London"

Hotel was chosen particularly for its location. The review on your website indicated that it was being renovated and we were therefore prepared for some inconvenience but saw no evidence of building work. Our room was very small and the double bed barely fitted into the room, so my wife had to climb over the bed to get in. Bathroom was also small with a shower but no bath but was adequate. Room cleaning policy was odd - only three or more night stays rated a cleaner which had to be arranged beforehand but extra towels and toilet rolls could be collected from the concierge. Food was excellent. Buffet breakfast was very good (vast choice) with staff replenishing food areas as they emptied and clearing tables as soon as they were vacated. We had a pre-theatre dinner one night which was also very good. The hotel was very busy, mostly with tourists we thought and we found the staff very helpful, particularly the concierge staff.

"Really Location for shopping and Theatres and the British Museum!"

This is a big hotel,with lots of rooms and people.Expect queues on check in.The Food is good in the restaurants but not cheap you just need to be aware these are London prices.The real bonus of staying here is its position,so handy for a lot of different places.

Great staff , and lovely reception area , but rooms are awful , so small dark & dingy and depressing !! Not even soap supplied in the tiny bathroom !! Such a shame as good location and friendly helpful staff even in the bar . It the rooms let this hotel down badly !!

"Waiting for the lifts!! "

Hotel is in a fab location literally 2 minutes from the Dominion theatre & the tube station. Also the breakfasts are excellent. Rooms basic but do the job & would definitely stay here again

Would not stay here again, rooms & corridors need some attention badly. Very dull & not very inviting. Reception area nice but staff not very attentive. Concierge very good & very helpful.

Restaurant and bar are good but rooms are very tired and quite noisy with street traffic. No soap for handbasin, only one breakfast tea bag and poorly flushing toilet.

"Smallest bedroom totally inadequate "

I have never stayed in a hotel room as small as this. There was no hot water in the shower and the shower gel dispenser was totally empty. It was a birthday present on a theatre package and was extremely disappointed. We complained, and apologised, but no other rooms available as full. So just had to put up with it, not acceptable, so beware of this hotel just not what we expected. Feel some compensation should be offered.
