"it lived up to what we expected-and more. Very welcoming. Room exquistie and full of character and g"
Only room problem was the air com. Did not appear to be circulating and room very stuffy making sleeping conditions difficult. Also our rooom was directly above main hotel entrance so very noisy with peole coming andf going all night. Thankfully the room was so comfortable we did not mind being awake most of the night!. The sausages and bacon at breakfast time were also not fresh and very disappointing quality for how we expected the breakfast to be and we had to queque and wait a while for breakfast also..despite these things we managed to still love the experience and we plan to return to the hotel again sometime this year.

"From start to finish the service was excellent - what a weekend!!!"
We were made to feel very welcome when booking in. The refreshment was lovely. We had brought a bottle of Cava with us and they offered to put it in an ice bucket which was waiting for us when we returned. We asked for an extra pillow at 3am in the morning and this was provided immediately. The breakfast was lovely and the setting was perfect. Loved the paintings in the bar. Our only disappointment was that on leaving, we were admiring the flowers so much that we didnt notice Pierce Bosnan to our left in the foyer!!! That would have been the perfect photo finish to a great girls weekend. I have post party blues today!!!

"Warmth and good service of staff in historic building in beautiful loacation"
Really lovely two night break; made to feel very welcome; such a lovely building and interior. We forgave the drain smell as just a bit of bad luck. The breakfasts are superb, such choice; had dinner one night, the food was really good, just spoiled by a couple of forgetful staff members on a night when few tables to serve but the manager offered free drinks and not charging part of dinner.

"Very good location but some aspects of the service don`t live up to its 5 star rating. "
We had booked accomodation via Hotel Direct for the 14 & 15 February 2014 and paid additional for an upgrade to a Delux King. On arrival we found the rooms small, basic and very cold. On further inspection of the hotels website when we returned home we believe we were allocated a standard Queen Room and possibly not what was booked as it had not the table or shower/tub facilities listed on the web site. We dinned in the restaurant on the first night and although the quality of the food was superb, the service did not match. Despite orders having been taken for all courses at the start of the evening, we had to ask them to bring our deserts and the coffee we ordered never came. Dinner in the bar on the second evening was similar in that the quality of the food was great, getting a table proved challenging. They have no system for reseving tables in the bar and the 12 to 15 tables they have are occupied on a first come basis and can be equally used by drinkers or dinners.

"FANTASTIC STAY IN DUBLIN"
Had such a fantastic time in The Shelbourne. Check-in was very smooth and we were delighted to get a complementary upgrade to a one bedroom suite as they were overbooked - what a room!!! We dined there for my husband`s birthday and they made the evening very memorable. Great location, Great food, Great staff - what more could you ask for? Would go back in a heartbeat.

"A great experience. Full marks to the staff for making our short stay quite memorable"
Looking for somewhere nice to spend a few days over the xmas holiday we opted for the Shelbourne From start to finish the hotel staff made our choice a really good one. From the reception desk bars/restaurant the people looking after our needs through-out the hotel gave the impression that they were anxious to please and left no stone to ensure that our short stay in the hotel was one that we would really enjoy. Value for money we got more or less what we expected in the hotel. The Christmas Day Dinner did seem however to be over-priced but because we decided to change our plans and availed instead of the fare on offer in No.27 I feel it would be unreasonable to comment one way or the other on this item. The atmosphere/ambience in No.27 and the quality of the service given to us in the restaurant was excellent and the staff working the Xmas day shift delivered a rolls royce service from start to finish. Congrats to all involved

"Festive stay, a bit frenetic. "
Would be nice to have a little preference for residents. Getting a drink was really hard work and expensive, however we knew what to expect and enjoyed our visit. Trouble with room keys and room safe were quickly resolved. Breakfast excellent. Porterage, car parking, and all at Reception were also excellent.

"Outstanding Hotel with excellent dining experience"
Was very dissapointed with the room allocation to which I have already made a complaint to both the hotel and hotel direct under my booking reference. However I would have to say every effort was made by the manager to compensate for this, we received a complimentary bottle of wine, macarroons and also dinner in the A La Carte Saddle Restaurante which was excellent. We were told the hotel does not offer triple rooms and yet this is what was booked with hotel direct, in the future I think there needs to be better communication between yourselves and the hotel as to what the exact room specifications are to be in order to avoid dissapointment. Again we were very happy with how we were treated and compensated but to have to complain in the first instance takes the edge of such a short break. The manager and staff were very accommodating and made every effort to make up for the room dissapointment.

Great in all ways except for important phone call nearly missed because I was having breakfast and operator could not or would not contact me. I would expect a hotel of this calibre to be able to page me or bring an extension to my table.

"In a class of its own in Dublin."
I have now been a guest at all of the Dublin hotels with 3 stars or more - and it seems I saved the best until last. Everything in the Shelbourne is just that little bit better from the welcome at reception through the service at the bar and in the restaurant to the quality of the bed. I cannot recommend it more highly.

"Exceptional experience! One of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in."
Our room was on the 8th floor and was oversized with a king bed. The accommodations were excellent and the staff of the Shelbourne were superior in customer service. The location of the Shelbourne is perfect and easy to navigate from. When we visit Dublin again, we will be staying at the Shelbourne.

"A very comfortable hotel with super-helpful staff and fabulous food."
This was the perfect choice for us as the location is ideal. We were able to walk to the theatres, Temple Bar and had no need of taxis to do all we wanted to. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything you need is provided in the room. We were hosting a lunch for family and although when it got to 5pm we realised we were the only ones left in the restaurant, we had been oblivious, the staff are so cheery and polite. This is our number one choice for a Dublin visit.

"One word.... AMAZING"
We stayed in the shelbourne dublin and we throughly enjoyed it! It is the most beautiful hotel, fantastic location, really central to city centre. Each and every member of staff were extremely helpful and professional without being stuffy. Our room was beautiful and the bed was so comfortable I missed my breakfast so I could stay in bed for an extra few hours! Would highly recommend and would be high on my list of places to return too in the very near future.
