"Clean and convenient location"

No handrail going upto hotel entrance because plants block it. It makes it tricky carrying a heavy suitcase

"Royal Eagle - comfortable and easy to find "

Hotel was of the standard expected. Room was clean & confortable. Basement room was rather noisy due to lift and kitchens nearby. We were surprised to be charged £1 to leave a case for later collection. Location was ideal for us, and we would consider staying here again.

"when a hotel feels like home"

The people who work at the reception counter at th Royal Eagle hotel are the best. They were so helpful so friendly that they became a highlight of my stay in London. The hotel is comfortable, clean, and well located.

"Comfortable and clean"

Lovely hotel pleasant staff, comfy beds. We left our bags there after we had checked out they charged us £1.00 per item. As apposed to £12.50 at the train station. Two drawbacks no air con in the room and not enough plugs for a 3 person room.

Pretty good as we weren`t disturbed and friendly advise from the reception especially the Chinese girl

"Excellent location but poor room standard"

Couldn`t fault the location of the hotel, and the staff were pleasant. Hotel was let down by untidiness and unfinished decor. The room was cramped and although fitted a double bed, it was a general tight squeeze and inhabitable. The shower failed to work sufficiently and struggled to heat up. Stingy with the towels and pillows too and overall not all that inviting. Would recommend but only if room size was improved and cleaned up.

"The room we had on our return journey on 21st March was very small and the shower cubicle flooded."

I spoke with the reception who said the drains had been cleared the previous day. They did let me use another room to shower in as there was no way I was going to paddle in previous shower water. On the whole they hotel was average. In fact the toilet seat in the room we had on our outward journey on 16th March was very loose which I pointed out to reception.

"a clean and very reasonably priced hotel"

It was a pity that the room key system wasn`t working, but the staff kindly showed us to our room. The bathroom was neat and modern, although the mirror light and shaver weren`t working. All staff were efficient and helpful. Have already recommended it to a couple of friends.

"Vaule for money"

Staff need better training on Fire Evacuation, as Fire Alarm went off at 3.00am in the morning, no staff assisted at all to make sure guests were evacuated safely, total chaos, stood ooutside for over 30 minutes then guests went back in once the alarm was turned off, thankfully a false alarm

"Excellent staff"

The staff were excellent and we appreciated the friendly and warm attention to our needs. The room however was small and my biggest concern was gaffer tape cover the smoke detector. This was probably due to a very very small shower cabinet with no exhaust fan. The room didn`t allow for any room to place our bags which unfortunately meant we had to place them near the door. This would have been disastrous in an emergency. Apart from that the hotel is in an excellent location close to Paddington station.

"Overall okay, some problems"

You get what you pay for, however there are things that should be fundamental no matter the price. For example the shower dial was very very stiff and would only change between freezing cold and scolding hot. The toilet seat was loose and hanging off, but before we even got to this point we had to reattach the shower door onto the roller as it was hanging off, and then soap dish in the shower was hanging or the wall (don`t include one of you can`t put it in properly, it`s not that useful). On the other hand, it was a comfy bed and we had a good nights sleep, the complimentary breakfast was also lovely.

"Staff so friendly"

A lovely hotel to stay in I would definitely stay here again, plus side convenience to Paddington station, down side we were at the back of the hotel and the windows are not double glazed and you could here the traffic ( and the sirens) most of the night. Room was good. perfect size for my wife and myself.

"Hotel was fine-room small but comfortable typical London! Conveniently near to Paddington Station. "

Room was small which is typical for London, but clean and comfortable. Stairs only to room which may not suit everyone. View of mews at back so was quiet! Breakfast was a breadfeast - not a normal English or Continental breakfast. Really good croissants though! Easy walk to Paddington Station which has good connection to Heathrow and several underground lines. Plenty of local restaurants and coffee shops. Easy walk to Hyde Park.

room allocated did not have a bath which had been requested. This was corrected on request although the second room was extremely small. Bathroom shaver light not working. Breakfast underwhelming.

"OK, and generally comfortable. Better signage required"

"Room 115: take the lift to the first floor" he said. The route to 115 from the lift was: up some stairs past some 2xx rooms, through a door labelled with only 2xx rooms, across the stairwell, through an unmarked door past more 2xx rooms, left through another unmarked door, down some stairs and through another unmarked door. When I went back and said "I give up, where is 115?" he took me up through the restaurant, through two unmarked doors into an entrance hall, then up a flight of stairs which was labelled 114 - 115, and finally through an unmarked door. Do you expect your guests to find their way in and out? Pitifully small sachets of bath gel, and nowhere to put them in the shower where they don`t instantly get diluted or washed away. Enough electric sockets by the bedside to plug in phone and laptop: thank you. No coat hooks, only hangers in the wardrobe.

" Not good value for money"

Our room was tiny and very noisy as on ground floor next to busy road. Breakfast not included in price. Suspect cheaper to book hotel/ tickets separately through other websites

"Royal Eagle night stay"

Great hotel. Very clean, staff were very friendly. Breakfast staff not as friendly - seemed like they wished we were not there. Room was clean and spacious for both of us.

"Too small too noisy!"

We found the room too small but the worst thing was the noise. It went all day and all night! It was like there was air in some pipes or a boiler was going to explode! Was not the best, but staff were ok and it was clean!

"Average to poor"

Apart from a few faults in the room that you`d expect in a 3 star, I didn`t expect when I was getting breakfast in the morning with my partner for us to be stared at whilst we eat for the whole duration on eating our breakfast by at least one member of staff at a time.

The hotel is in a great location and staff very friendly and rooms attended daily. The only downside was the mattress was uncomfortable and you could feel the steel underneath (more like a sofa bed style) and there was no airconditioning in all the rooms. The price of accommodation is expensive and I think those two aspects should be improved for the price.
