"an hotel with style"

we thorougly enjoyed our stay albeit for one night.THE WETROOM WAS H We thoroughly enjoyed our stay albeit for one night. The room was perfect, the wet room was huge. Breakfast was wonderful. Saff were charming and helpful, special thank-you to Carey for pushing me around the back quarters! Will certainly return.

"It was OK, but..."

In a hotel of that standing I would expect to have free WiFi and a small bottle of water in my room. I arrived late in the evening after an international flight and felt that £4.50 for water and £15 for internet access was rather unwelcoming if not a little mean.

"Fantastic hotel, great staff, wonderful room."

Had a great night at the theatre, and a casual walk back to this stunning hotel. Highly recommend as Covent Garden, The Strand, Oxford St, are all a short walk away. A great location, with tube and railway stations close by. Hotel it`s self is very nice, room was of a good size and very comfortable.

"Great food, Good location and Great staff"

Bedroom not really to standard as size ver small and bath plug etc broken and not functioning as should do. I ran a bath and to add cool water I had to physically place my hand & arm into the boiling water. We also had no secure chain etc to secure our main door. Only 2 staff on placement when vacating the hotel. Queue was quite long......

"Built in the 1800`s and not touched since"

Room, wallpaper peeling from walls, pubic hair on the bathroom? floor. window fixed with a piece of wood. Breakfast, better going for the cold buffet as this is the same temperature as the hot full English. Reception ask as soon as you arrive if you would like to upgrade before you see the room. Would we stay there again? Is there any need to answer that!

"Convenient Luxury"

The hotel is very convenient for the underground and St Pancras International, staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and the room was large comfortable and clean. Full breakfast in our room was great before our onward journey and makes a change from only being offered continental. We would stay again.

"Good location from Railway Stations and a comfortable stay"

The Hotel has a good location for city visitors. Some nice period features in the hotel but a little dated and showing signs of wear. Standard rooms are warm comfortable but a little small compared with other areas of the Hotel. Service was generally good and staff polite and efficient. We did have an issue with the water supply in our room which wasn`t resolved during our stay. We did get a good deal with Hotel Direct and therefore it represents good value for money. However, we would reconsider if only standard room price was available.

"We were moved to a crappy hotel down the road"

My wife and I had booked a room at the Russell Hotel in London through Hoteldirect, with a long period of notice ie: 2 months and just before we were due to go to london,I received a call from Hoteldirect duly informing me that the Russell hotel was over booked and that we would have to move to alternative hotel. At this point I unfortunately took the advise of the professionals at Hoteldirect and unwittingly found ourselves in nothing more than an a bad travelodge and at the check in I was also aware that other hoteldirect clients had also been palm off to this same hotel. I complained to the hotel management about the sub standard room and was finally moved to what can only be considered a slightly better room at the front of the building. I personly will not use Hoteldirect again as the hotel that we were offered was not up to the standards that I was lead to believe . Be warned!!!

My friend and i enjoyed our stay but both thought the cost at £19-50 each was too much. The cost should be clearly shown before you have commited yourself

"Superb Hotel"

Was initially put off paying what I considered a high fee for the room but the hotel was worth it. Great quality all round and the best hotel bed I have ever slept on!!! I stayed at the front of the Hotel and despite the extra glazing the road noise is loud but that`s not the hotels fault and it`s the same in all major cities. Breakfast was very good and service wa excellent. Really enjoyed it and would go back again if I can get another good deal on the price. Would consider making it my hotel of choice in London. 10 minute stroll from Euston.

"Excellent service at Hotel Russell"

This was my first visit to Hotel Russell and I would certainly visit the hotel again when I next travel to London. My room was very clean and warm and the staff were very helpful.

"Character with convenience"

OK it was only an overnight stay but the Hotel had a special feel and a sense of history and grandeur. True the Hotel Bar got full very quickly and there were some refurbishments going on all week-end we were there but overall it was professional,welcoming, good value and most important of all we would definitely go back there.

"Staff helpfull, hotel clean and a good standard. Pleanty of character on the ground floor. "

However, I know we had an excelent rate but the bedrooms were quite crampt, with the double room haveing the double bed beining pushed against the wall to make floor space! the twin room may of been alright as a double but not as a twin as there was no space between the beds.

"Excellent service, beautiful hotel"

We got a complimentary upgrade to a Superior Suite, which was amazing. The hotel is so beautiful. The reception and the stairways look stunning in grand marble. I would definitely book again.

1 Toilet positioned too near wash basion. 2 Step from shower room to bed room, could be a problem. 3 Towel rail over toilet too awakward. 4. TV remote control doesent switch off while one is in bed.

"A male receptionist did not give the impression that I was welcome. Room allocation took ages."

I do not object to leaving Credit Card details on arrival but being told that £100 would be placed against it if required later and then having to use pin number and on top of that having to sign to say that I had authorized it was just more than I am comfortable with.

"The Hotel Russell is Excellent!!"

The Hotel Russell was a fabulous hotel. crisp, white sheets, a spotlessly clean bathroom,excellent tea and coffee making facilities. The Receptionist at Check In was polite and efficient and very helpful. A tasty ,Full English breakfast was plentiful, well presented and came with lots of choice. The doorman was courteous,ordered us a taxi and helped with our suitcases. We would definitely stay at The Russell again.

This was our second time to stay in the Russell and found our stay very comfortable and convenient for our use in London. I requested a rate for an extra night in the same room, as we would have liked to stay another night. I was quoted the same rate and was disappointed that there was not a reduction. From the hotel`s point of view there would not have been any extra work involved and potential income lost for a room night. We stayed elsewhere.There seemed no flexability in the computer for the your desk staff to offer any reduction. The hotel did not seem to be overly busey.
