Beautifully appointed throughout and staff all extremely helpful and friendly. The only problem was that everywhere in the hotel was far too hot which made sleeping difficult.

"Could`ve been better but eventually sorted by hotel"

Problems with blocked toilet, no early breakfast despite being ordered otherwise good. Complimentary refreshments given at lunchtime as compensation.

"Old and musty!"

Although the met has had some renovation in the foyer and lounge areas the bedrooms are still way back in the 80`s! There is a constant smell of must and the carpets are old and most things in the hotel are shabby. The breakfast was decent but the waiters were rude and unattentive. The Raddisson is right in the centre of town and a much higher class of hotel for the same money. Also the fire alarm went off at 7am sunday morning and we all had to evacuate, staff told us not to worry this happens quite often!!!! I will not be returning to find out.

"Excellent breakfast, friendly staff"

Criticism is both times we have stayed the chambermaids have started coming into our bedroom on a morning whilst we were still in bed. Limited car parking but the railway car park is quite close by and less expensive.

We arrived at 1pm & tried to book in. They asked us to come back at 2pm as the room was 2.15pm but the room was still unavailable. We had to wait in reception until 2.45 pm to be allowed to chek in and go to our room. The room was very large and suited our needs but needs the decoration updating. The window frames were peeling, marks on walls etc. The hotel was hosting a 6th form party plus a wediing so we were unable to uses the restaurant or bar during our stay but were told that we could order drinks from the hotel foyer. Unfortunately the foyer was full of tipsy 17 & 18 year olds who took over all of the seating even though there was a separate function room for them. Other hotel guests could not get seats or have a quiet drink before retiring to their rooms. The staff were aware of this but choses to take no action. We did have an excellent breakfast the following morning though.

"Untidy"

Got to Hotel and went to a extremely small double bedroom that looked dingy and clostrophobic and small is a single room. Asked to change rooms, had to pay £25 more for upgrade to a room that I would still not consider acceptable. Room was a double and only one lot of towels, no shower cap. Normally stay at the Marriott and will be returning there for future trips. I must say though, I could not fault the service.

"Overall a great hotel to stay in especially the location."

My only comment was I felt the breakfast room was cold on the Saturday.

Good, central location. Most of the Hotel has been rufurbished although the rooms are quite small. Food was good and staff are friendly and helpful. My friend joined us on the second night and was given complimentary wine on arrival, yet we didn`t!

"Below par, run down and disappointing"

Having had a previously enjoyable stay at the Met, we decided to return there again for our latest visit to Leeds. The booking through Hotels Direct was straightforward and easy. But that was as good as it got. We were stuck in what could be described as an attic room on the 6th floor (described by one of the hotel staff as "staff quarters"!). The room was "tired", shabby decor, torn curtains, badly stained bed base, room furnishings cheap and tatty and the bathroom grubby. The room was in desperate need of an overhaul and shouldn`t have been available for guests. Breakfast was included but was poor. All in all, a bad experience. We won`t be staying there again!

"A Curate`s Egg"

I am a lawyer who undertakes a great deal of travel per year which necessitates staying in hotels. I am familiar with them. This hotel is poor but there has been attempt at modernisation. However, the building itself is so old that the effect is purely cosmetic. THere is one tiny lift for a huge hotel! I had to get my room changed from the shabby one allotted to me on arrival. The window in my replacement room did not close so the first night was poor with cold wind blowing around the room which adversely affected my sleep resulting in my not being rested for the next day`s business. The lighting in the room was gloomy making reading very difficult. The food from room service was dreadful - almost inedible. The staff are polite and eager to please but they don`t have the hotel facilities to back up their willingness to put things right. I will not stay here again and I will dissuade anyone from staying there.

"Very Welcoming and comfortable"

As soon as i walked up the steps and in to The Met`s reception area i knew that i was happy with my choice of hotel. My room was perfect and the staff were always happy to help. i would most definetley come back to this hotel in the near future.

"the room we were alocated was shabby. "

There was wall paper hanging off the walls, dampness, dirty carpets, stains in the barthroom, smelt of stail in bedroom and corridor on the 5th floor. the standard was very poor for a 4* hotel. the Breakfast arrangement in the morning was disorganised and poor. and lack of options of food even wen ran out. wont be booking again.

"OVER BOOKED - transferred from 4* city centre hotel to a budget edge of town hotel"

The 4 star Met admitted overbooking and transferred us to a budget hotel which they clearly knew nothing about. A transfer to a similar standard hotel might have been acceptable - I felt we were just being off-loaded.

The hotel was lovely, modern decoration with very helpful staff. Unfortuneately we hadn`t been informed prior to our arrival that the twin room we booked had been changed to 2 singles and that the restaurant (where we were going to eat) was closed due to a christmas party - luckily we didn`t mind searching for a restaurant in Leeds that still had room!

"Overbooked on arrival so moved to Bewleys instead where had a bad night in poor bedroom. "

Offerred a free two night stay at Met as compensation but would rather have had the hotel we booked in the first place. Unsatisfactory.

"5th floor bedroom jaded, desperately in need of refurbishment. Linen curtains dirty"

Reception staff good, bar service friendly but slow (only one member of staff and rushed off his feet). Breakfast was fine although menue said cooked to order and this was not the case. Overall disappointing and I`ll probably stop at the Queens next visit.

Hotel was well situated and presented however our room was on the 6th floor and was not up to the standard we expected.

"Unrefurbished rooms are awful"

Make sure that you get a refurbished room before arrival, the one we got was not very nice and certainly not what I would call 4 stars! Unfortunately the hotel was fully booked so they could not move us so it is worthwhile to check before you book.

"Myself and my friend really enjoyed our stay at your hotel and would come again. "

My friend and I stayed in your establishment on 17th to 18th November and we really enjoyed our time there. The hotel is very modern and our twin room was lovely and we had excellent facilities including an en-suite, tea and coffee making facilities and a tv. The inclusive breakfast was very appetising. I would definitely come to your hotel again.

"Not worth the money!!!"

Extremely unimpressed with the rooms. Definitely not 4*! We asked to move rooms as we were on the top floor in a room where the door had clearly been `kicked in` previously! We were moved to another room on the top floor but nearer the stairs. The lift does not go all of the way to the top floor, we had to climb several stairs to get to our room, fine of you do not have heavy cases. Breakfast was the only good thing about this hotel. The smart reception is very deceptive, a cover up of what the hotel really has to offer (or doesn`t have to offer)!!!

There was a mix up with my room. I booked an executive online and on arrival was assigned a contemporary. This was simply awful. I immediately asked for another room. I was told to come to reception to pay for an upgrade - I then had to carry all my luggage and my 8-year old``s luggage back to reception to pick up another key - hand over additional money - and go back to the same floor I was on. Someone could have taken the time to bring the key to me. The next morning, I ordered breakfast in my room. I was told that both of us would be charged for room service even though we occupied the one room. Another £20 - and that I would have to give the waitress the money. The breakfast came cold, unappetising and inedible. On top of that I received a ticket from an unregulated parking service for parking at the side of the hotel. When I rang to enquire who actually owned the land where the parking bays were, I go no satisfactory information. All in all not a happy experience.

"Staff fabulous, hotel beautiful, bedroom not the most comfortable we`ve stayed in"

Staff were all brilliant. An error in our reservation on the part of the hotel was dealt with well, although we ended up with a less than comfortable room. (Had reserved a family room - child ended up on the sofa bed from hell). Food was fabulous although there was a cafe feel to the restaurant in the evening as we were eating quite an expensive meal sitting looking at empty buffet/chiller cabinets which kept `revving` up.

"Generally good, few problems with breakfast."

The room was excellent and the front desk service was good. There was a problem with the breakfast on Sunday morning, the service was very slow and we were waiting for 25 minutes before getting into the breakfast hall.

"Rooms on 5th floor, shabby, not particularly clean, mattress worn out springs poking thru. Carpets f"

Daughter in room 513, had to sleep on floor in our room as room so dingy and unwholesome. Couldn`t take cash at the bar after 11.00 pm, wanted to swipe our credit card for a minimum of £50 to set up bar tab - we only wanted 2 glasses of wine! Key cards wouldn`t work properly, had to go back down to reception (5 floors down) every time we tried to get into our rooms. Overall very disappointing, asked for an upgrade but were told no rooms available, if stay had been for more than 1 night we would have left and booked elsewhere. A complete rip-off at £118 per room, would rather stay at the Radisson and be ripped off in comfort!!! If the bill had not been prepaid we would definitely not have settled the full amount.

Staff in dining room friendlyy and breakfast excellent

The hotel itself is beautiful and the room I had was clean and comfortable. However, I found that the whole hotel needed to cool the temperature down a few degrees! The air con didn`t work in the conference suite we were in and it wasn`t possible to open the windows and be able to work because of the traffic noise, so it was a little uncomfortable there. The staff were lovely and most helpful, and the restaurant staff were excellent. The meals I had in the hotel were good quality and nicely served. The buffet style meals were good, and the choice was excellent. It is close to the town centre, so if you do manage a visit where your time is not filled with working, it is easy to get to shopping centres, etc, and it is about a 10 minute stroll from the railway station, although not well signposted. Most people I asked, however, knew where the hotel was.
