"Lovely hotel. excellent staff, good sized room and great food"

Only stayed for one night but found the room very well appointed and comfortable. We were able to check in on arrival, well before 3pm, which was great. We ate at the Brasserie in the evening and the food was lovely and very well presented. Check out was speedy this morning and we left our luggage with the concierge while we checked out Harrods and Knightsbridge. The doorman sorted out a taxi for us later to return to Waterloo station (boo) complete with luggage. The only comment I have is that the room was so dark - not even the option of a good bright light at all. If my daughter had been staying while on a course for her employer she would not have been able to study in the room in the evening as necessary. We were in room 3074 - perhaps all rooms are not so poorly lit.

"There was a problem with the booking and the hotel only had one room booked. Hotel direct booking."

In the morning the maid came into the room twice even though we were checking out so no need to clean.

"Very Expensive for rooms and services."

The Cumberland is not cheap, even by comparison to other London Hotels. In terms of the rooms offered for the price I paid, I have to say that I was disappointed and in hindsight wish I had chosen one of the smaller hotels on my short-list. For the price I would have expected bigger, better quality overall. The bar and food were very expensive, 2 drinks cost £24. I found the carbon bar attached to the hotel a bit grotty and not somewhere I fancied spending any time. I feel that a lot of effort has gone into the presentation of the main foyer, when really does anyone care about where you check-in as opposed to the quality of the factor you actually pay for, namely your room. On the plus side I found the breakfast very good, albeit pricey as well. Overall, I think next time I would prefer to opt for a smaller hotel in the hope that the rooms are the main focus.

"Great stay at the Cumberland "

Stayed for a gig in Hyde park. Initially booked a double as was intending to attend with my wife but changed to a twin as she couldn`t attend so I went with my brother. I`d asked to be in the annexe hotel as its nice and quiet but when we arrived the room wasn`t ready so they gave me a free upgrade to an executive twin in the main hotel. Room was huge and we had a large double bed each - really good stay.

"Brilliant location"

Amazing location, for shopping, sightseeing, theatres etc. Staff very helpful and friendly and a nice buzz within the hotel generally. Room was very spacious and we could not fault the beds (very comfortable). We need not have breakfast at the hotel but heard from other guests that this was also of a high standard. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and I will be going back again.

"Reserved a double room"

We were told on arrival that we could only have a twin room as there were no available doubles. We were then offered a double if we were willing to pay an extra £40 per night i.e. £200. We insisted that we had reserved a double room. The staff member disappeared for 5 minutes and returned to say that a double room was available after all! The room (8095) was disappointingly small. Furthermore we had problems with the remote control for the TV which had to be replaced twice. This was our third visit to the Cumberland and fell short of our expectations. Our view was that the hotel had attempted to extract from us a further £200 for an up-grade to a type of room for which we had already paid. This is sharp practice which will cause us to consider whether we wish to use the Cumberland in the future.

"The Jones`s stay at the Cumberland Hotel in London"

The Wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cumberland hotel. The staff made us feel very welcome. I was taken back with the hospitality of one of your Doormen ( Bence ). he was most friendly and even treated us to a bottle of wine for our anniversary. Most unexpected however, very welcome. we shall most definitely be returning before the year is out. The only complaint that I would have is that the Cooked breakfast is not HOT enough for my liking however, I appreciate it can`t be kept pipping hot all the time for so many guests. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

"All fine until breakfast"

We booked to stay at the Cumberland for a 50th birthday celebration - the cocktail bar, guest services and rooms were fine. At the time of booking there was a definite `push` to promote the breakfast in the hotel, we were asked if we wanted breakfast and we said we werent sure and the Receptionist said `no problem, you can decide in the morning`. We decided at about 10.15 am we would go for breakfast; at the main breakfast room we were told that `we dont have much food, try downstairs`. When we went downstairs there was a queue out of the dining room waiting to be seated. I was incredibly disappointed - it put a dampner on the stay to be honest. In view of this, I would be very unlikely to stay there again.

"Very good value for money"

What a relief it is as a woman of a certain age to get in to a hotel room and find a magnifying mirror ( no mascara brush in eye) and even more novel a socket next to a mirror. No drying hair in front of a wall or on hands and knees looking for a socket hidden away somewhere. Good location, good breakfast, nice helpful staff, what`s not to like? 4th time here.

"Had a great stay could not wish for a better location."

I stayed for 1 night on the 1st April. I took my 8 yr old Daughter, it was her first time in London as we had booked to go and see One Direction at the O2 the next day. The room was lovely we had a brillant view of Marble Arch. We paid for the breakfast the next morning which we both enjoyed and gave us a great start for the day. My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay in London and thanks to the Cumberland Hotel we will never forget it, and hope to return one day. THANK YOU .

"Modern hotel in great location."

Hotel is right beside Marble Arch tube station which was really handy. Right beside Oxford Street for shopping and sight seeing. There were loads of places to eat cheaply nearby although we did get hotel vouchers for their breakfast a couple of times - breakfasts were good and filled us up for the whole day. Hotel rooms were small (which doesn`t matter as we were out most of the time anyway), freshly decorated with modern bathrooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again :)

"A really enjoyable stay"

My second visit to the Cumberland Hotel and I am sure it will not be my last. Extremely helpful and friendly staff and a very comfortable environment; straight through the Hotel doors and you are on Oxford Street - can`t be bad!
