"Nicely presented clean hotel in the heart of London"

Deceptively nice hotel situated right at the heart of London within easy walking distance to the shops, bars, restaurants and theatres. Recently modernised rooms fully equiped. Good breakfast buffet. Kids absolutely loved the TV in the bathroom. The only downside is there is no hotel bar so a quiet drink while the kids were in be was off the agenda. Wold definately reccommend.

"Room was small but neat decor. Room service excellent. Corridors could do with redecoration"

Adequate accommodation for our purposes ie pleasure trip to Wimbledon tennis. Bedroom neat and tidy with modern take on style. Ensuite pleasant with modern fittings and tiling. Corridor areas cold do with redoration and new carpeting. Both days we had breakfast in our room - served on time in immaculate fashion with more than adequate servings of bacon, sausage, egg, etc warm toast and a selection of danish pastries. Check in / out quick and efficient with helpful staff. Left luggage service was efficient with retrieval only marred with a large influx of guests checking in which meant a slight delay in getting our bags.

The room 214 was far too noisy and too small - you should class this has a single room. The service in the restaurant was very good and the food very good.

"very good"

On arrival back at the hotel after the theatre I realised I mhad forgotten my toothbrush and toothpaste. We asked at reception to be told that these were not available. Following breakfast in the morning we asked again as there were different receptionists. This time we were given them. Thank you. Slow lift. However, we had a great time, so central

"A smart hotel in the centre of London at a reasonable rate. We enjoyed our stay there."

We loved the `designer` look of the place although we thought the shape of the cups were not very useful for drinking out of. We will go back there again.

"The reception wasn`t great, the waitting staff need to be trained."

And we had a power cut on top of all that!

"Great location, but...."

Was an absolute perfect location for central london with being in West End and Picadilly, Convent Garden, Soho all close by. Rooms were of good standard albeit suprisingly small. Again, the ret of the hotel was small with a strange canteen / bar in the basement.

An excellent hotel in a fantastic location. Clean, modern and very well furnished. Slightly pricey if you are staying yourself, however I think its worth the extra.

"A good value central hotel"

I have stayed here twice now on business. The rooms are quite small, but well presented, modern and comfortable. Its also a great central location if you want to hit the nightlife ! Great value for money and highly recommended.

"Very central for theatre land. Lovely rooms."

The hotel is in an ideal place for a theatre based weekend. We had no difficulty walking to the theatre and then around Chinatown on the way back. he hotel has been recently refurbished and the room was immaculate and very modern. Unfortunately they did miss our `breakfast in bed` request note on the door, but werevery good in sorting the problem. We will be staying there again.

"Having stayed at the Tower Thistle Hotel for our anniversary weekend away for the last 4 years!"

Our stay at your hotel was an eye opener. The room was small (deceiving in the photo) but clean and bathroom TV a great extra. But service not so good as bathroom robes I requested, so as not to feel awkward in the morning collecting breakfast, did not arrive. Also, tray charge wasn`t expected as I thought breakfast was payed for when I booked.

"Lovely hotel and brilliant location"

Lovely hotel in excellent location. We stayed for one night and it was lovely. Beds and bedding were really soft and comfortable. Everything you needed was in the hotel room the decor and rooms were delightful. Some of our group were allergic to the feather pillows and duvets at the hotel and they were immediatley changed for foam ones. Lovely staff, lovely hotel and brilliant location. Will definatley be going back and recommending to family and friends.

"Lights and Bar"

The lights went out in our room the day we were leaving and the hotel had not managed to locate the fuse box by the time we left!! The hotel description does state it has a bar, this was open from 7pm till 9pm, which wasn`t much use. Everything else was good.

"Hotel too hot, room airconditioning not sufficient and weather not that hot over stay."

Not enough attention to detail. Lift door not cleaned. Orange juice in dispenser marked Apple. Not offered coffee top up. Bulb in toilet faulty. Cleaning staff hijacked lift and took us up when we were in and about to go down. Curtain nearly impossible to draw in corner. Asked to sign breakfast docket whilst getting cooked breakfast then again at moment of sitting down with hot breakfast. Windows vibrate with traffic noise. Good points - central for theatres

"No air conditioning, no engineer on site, bed and bathroom good but basic otherwise"

The Shaftesbury doesn`t need your business, and it shows: there`s a modicum of effort to address your needs, but otherwise you`re paying a lot of cash for a glorified motel. On the plus side, it was clean and tidy, but how is it impossible to get Channel 5 and cable/satellite in Central London? Staff OK but I won`t stay again.

"Busy street location; clean hotel including room; good breakfast"

Stayed for 1 night.. Everything was as expected, the room was nice and clean with quality furniture, nice bathroom and flat screen TV. The prices advertised on the front desk are far higher than those available via Hotel Direct. The shower was a bit dated and cumbersome. The flat screen TV in the bathroom switched on but received no channles, even after reporting it. The main TV worked and had the usual channels plus a few other freeview ones. I would stay here again, but would not pay full price as you can get a 5* hotel for that..

"hotel didnt have my room "

We arrived at the Shaftesbury at 11am checked in 2 rooms but were told they were not ready so went off for day shopping. to return at 6.30pm to be given room keys to rooms which were already occupied. we entered the rooms with people in them not good. very embarrassing. then to make matters worse when we went to reception we were now told that they only had 1 room even though my booking said two rooms and was paid for some 2 weeks earlier. ok hotel clean friendly staff but not in my book upto the price if this is how you are treated. in the end we had to have one smaller room and 1 twin. not great

Rooms were well stocked and the complimentary fruit bowl in the room was a good extra. Major drawback was that most rooms faced directly on to Shaftesbury Avenue so were noisy. Mainly street and traffic noise. Luckily I had brought ear plugs but had to close the window as well to get to sleep. The buffet breakfast was well stocked on the continental side however the cooked side could have been more plentiful. Relatively small trays of mushrooms, bacon, eggs, sausages, baked beans etc. You did not feel as if you could take a decent sized portion.

We found the room very clean and comfortable with all the facilities you would expect. The staff were polite and friendly and this hotel is a great base for the theatres and the West End. Our only minor complaint would be that the sound proofing of the street noise into the room wasn`t great, meaning that with our room over looking Shaftesbury Avenue (albeit on the fourth floor) we found it difficult to sleep. This wasn`t a major problem for an overnight stay, but may have become one had we been staying longer.
