"Disappointed "

For the high cost of the rooms the standard required is poor. There is no secondary glazing and it is on a very noisy main road but having no air con means the windows need to be open as very warm room. In general the room was ok but the bathroom very poor. Hairs in the shower, grime on the grouting, dirty tap and completely loose and wobbling around. Dirty toilet and generally dusty. I would not stay here again.

"Unfortunate start but it got better"

On check-in (which seemed to take an extraordinarily long time per person) there was a queue in a limited space, so we were courteously invited to sit elsewhere and would be called for our turn. After a considerable time, we noticed people arriving and being directed to their rooms. We had clearly been forgotten. Upon enquiring about the delay, we were then invited to rejoin the new queue to check in. Not the best start to a visit after a long, tiring journey. The ensuite room was very clean, basic but fine for a short stay, very well located between Euston/Kings Cross stations and Covent Garden. We did not take advantage of the breakfast - extra cost being £18+ pperson - as `tea and toast` is enough for us. A short stroll further along the street is a Wetherspoon in a former bank, with a Shakespeare theme. We enjoyed our visit generally and would use this company again.

"DOWNGRADED FREE OF CHARGE"

Arrived at hotel, great location but unfortunately toilet did not work in room, a rear facing room, extra large bed, settee with area to relax and watch TV, large vanity table with large mirror, spacious and comfortable. Due to the toilet issues we were put in a small room, with no more than a small double bed, no seating area, no vanity table or mirror, facing the main road, no air conditioning as information stated, so hot and stuffy, opened windows 2nd night and did not sleep a minute due to noise from Road, no offer of reduction or even a complementary drink, very very disappointing.

"Coronation weekend at Thistle Bloomsbury "

On the whole a pleasant stay. Room was basic but clean, shower was powerful and biscuits, two bottles of water were included with tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast was plentiful with a good variety, with Buck`s Fizz included on Coronation day. Staff mostly helpful and friendly (in particular Tauveer and Trevor) although a little disappointing were early evening staff on Friday (apart from a young male agency receptionist who was very helpful)

"Awful- felt like dirty student accommodation "

Smelly corridors, tiny room, dirty bathroom floor, dirty tiles, dirty cups and spoons, cold air coming in from window, light coming into room through curtains all night, hard bed and pillows, corridor noise all night. One of the worst nights sleep I`ve ever had! Felt like I may as-well of slept on the pavement outside!!

"Unacceptable stay"

We arrived and was given room 701 which was disgusting asked to move because of the noise from outside and the room was absolutely freezing was moved to room 213 which the staff at night was using to get her head down which was unacceptable. On the Wed we had things planned and when we returned someone had been in our room and a empty Condom packet was left on table went to reception and reported this which they have said they have made a bit of but when we asked at reception it was not on the system. We was given clean sheets and had to change our beds absolutely appalling when you pay for a standard of service , we work hard for our breaks . We have stayed in the past with you but we will definitely not be returning, I will be contacting your Head Office and also a review on TripAdvisor

"Not what we expected"

Yes its clean and adequate but for what we paid we expected a larger room and better facilities. We expected a 3 to 4 star standard not a 2 to 3 star standard.

"Friendly helpful check in guy."

Lovely hotel, great location. Room a bit smaller than I was expecting but nice and clean and very comfortable beds. Receptionist Trevor very friendly and efficient, thanks to Trevor for all his helpful information.

"Mixed review. "

Location brilliant. Room basic but comfy and clean everything we needed. Staff some were brilliant but most were rude. Breakfast was cold and hard. Spoke to staff about a problem in an informal ?just so you are aware? manner and was told it was our fault - only told them to stop problem happening to other people as it could hurt a child. Made to feel bad for rest of the stay and all staff knew us from our room number.

"Leaky ceiling from room above"

The hotel was clean and facilities good. Staff friendly and polite. We stayed two nights and on the second night it sounded as if the heavens had opened in our room!! Upon investigation we had water dripping through the ceiling in the bathroom from the room above. Reported to Reception. Awaiting response to complaint.

"We had booked two rooms one was fine but the other was unacceptable."

One room was without a toilet for 24 hours and one of the beds had the mattress "plumped up" by a quilt, one side was collapsing. When the toilet was reported, they said ?the plumber had left for the day?. It is difficult to understand how a hotel wouldn`t have a 24 hours service for emergency plumbing. We were asked how our stay was and when we mentioned the lack of paid for ensuite facilities the receptionist became quite defensive, unnecessary . We also noted when we checked into the hotel we were advised of two room numbers, one later changed. There were people in the foyer of the hotel who should have checked in at 3 pm, also going to a show, who`s room wasn`t ready, they had to use the public toilet to get ready to go out. When we went into the room, although we had booked twin rooms one was set up as a double. I can say that once we reported this it was changed swiftly. I have given an average score as one room would have been good and the other some problems.

Booked triple room for 3 adults. 3rd bed was only a small camp bed and very uncomfortable. Requested a mattress topper on the 2nd night but none provided so sleep was very poor

"Not good"

Very poor, arrived to check on only to be told room not ready hours after it should have been. Very limited apologies from staff. Lucky we had been to a matinee and didn`t need to change. Other guests had to change in the toilet as room wasn`t ready and they were doing an evening show. Not sure I would book this hotel ever again.

"Poor service, but clean, comfortable and convenient "

Hotel is excellently located for the sights and the West End, we walked everywhere. The hotel is quite tired but is very clean and comfortable. We had an issue with one of our rooms, it was set up for 2 guests not 3 and reception were not helpful to get it resolved. And appeared to lie saying the booking only had two guests listed. When it`s clear on our confirmation. So very disappointed with that.

Our rooms were clean, and basic, although cold water on bathroom sink wasn`t working, which we did report. We found that some of the members of staff appeared not helpful or friendly at all, quite rude in fact ( one in particular) which again we did report. The hotel is in a brilliant location. Also after visiting a few years ago, we found the hotel to have become a bit shoddy, and could do with a bit of tlc. We all enjoyed our visit to London 128522;

"Thistle Bloomsbury Hotel"

Hotel was acceptable, upon first impressions all seemed well kept, however housekeeping could be further improved. The netted curtains and blackout curtains were very dusty, and could do with a wash from time to time, this unfortunately gave off a musty smell in the room. The toilet could`ve done with some disinfectant to give it a fresh smell, but other than that, all was ok, and the front of house staff were warm and welcoming.

"Average hotel, clean and tidy."

The hotel was average quality, tired in places and requiring a lick of paint. The beds were comfortable and good bed linen. The bathroom was very small and again quite tired. The restaurant and bar staff were friendly and polite however the reception staff were not, appearing unhappy and unfriendly.

First room we were given (308) was quite dark. I asked to be moved to a lighter room which was done (303) very much better

"Lovely, Polite and helpful staff, beautifully peaceful hotel"

The hotel was homely and the beds comfortable, breakfast was amazing with a wide variety to choose from. There was a very relaxed atmosphere in the bar in the evening and the employee on the bar was extremely polite. I would definitely return back to this hotel in the future.

Room was basic and very small On the street side very noisy Noisy neighbours but however the staff sorted it A housekeeping was good You would probably be better off at a Premier Inn All the staff were very good

The beds where lovely, fresh and clean but the bathroom not very good at all ,it smelt and need a good clean and a few repairs in shower cubicle needed doing
