"Five star hotel spoilt by very tired bathroom"

The hotel was excellent and up to par apart from the bathroom which was very, very tired - the mdf architrave at the bottom of the door and end of the bath was worn/broken/water damaged and needed replacing, and although clean we expected a shower screen instead of a shower curtain. The lip of the vanity unit had years of ingrained dirt in the crack. There was no coffee or tea making facilities in the room. All things considered, we wouldn`t stay again - we stayed at the Cumberland the month before and for one star less, it was certainly better, in our opinion

"Only two important things in a hotel - clean and a good nights sleep - they failed on the sleep "

rowdy people at 3.30am in next room with an interconnecting door made sleep impossible - the hotel said sorry noting we can do, It makes the value of the xxxxx, Bond Street, Mayfair less than a 1 star hotel. Don`t go there.

"Fantastic Hotel ..Really helpful staff. ."

Had an overnight stay at this hotel. Regent Street with all the shopping is very close by so no need for taxis.Room was of a very high standard , the staff were exceptional. Mayfair is a very expensive area so to find a restaurant for an evening without breaking the bank is a bit of a challenge also pre book breakfast when booking its half price !!would definitely stay at this hotel again..

"Small bedroom. Charge for wifi"

Not 5 star. Wifi not included in price. No complimentary tea/ coffee in rooms. Disappointing standard for the basic, small room

"Good location, but 5 star?"

Room 339 - stay ok but: 1) hotel insisted that we pay a £100 deposit, on our credit card, when we arrived. Have never had this before at ANY hotel. Hope they pay it back quickly! 2) When we arrived we had to point out that we had pre-paid for breakfast and reception said they would correct their records, but the restaurant still had to check - embarrassing! 3) Had a "make up room" tag on the door, for 4 hours and eventually had to call housekeeping to get the room serviced. 4) On the day we checked out, the shower would not heat up, a lukewarm shower is not good. 5) We could hear people talking in adjoining rooms. Fortunately, not too intrusive, but they were talking normally, so sound proofing needs work. Staff were helpful and attentive and the breakfast was good, but if we stay in this area again, will check out the opposition.

"Good service in unexceptional setting"

The staff were generally attentive. The hotel is very well located too. However, even with a free upgrade to King size room, which meant a wider and more comfortable bed, we simply were not blown away by the room. Compared with other options in London, it lacks space and refinement. It is the shower over the bath and en suite the size of a broom cupboard, less than sizeable main room and a lack of high quality furnishings that added to the general feeling of being underwhelmed. The foyer was equally uninteresting- not a fireplace in sight.

"On arrival you are made very welcome."

We had breakfast, quality very good. Air con was running, felt unnecessary for the temperature of the room. Food did not stay hot as a direct result of the air conditioning.

"Great hotel, queen room not 5*. "

The hotel location was excellent, as was the lobby. We were allocated a queen room on the 2nd floor. The room itself was extremely tiny. It was located right next to the lift and was very noisy with people passing through. I would advise taking your own hair dryer, the one in the room was dissapointing; more a 2* than 5* luxury. I wouldnt book this hotel if you are looking for a 5* luxury hotel, I would say the rooms were more 3-4*.

"Superb location for London city centre/shopping/theatres etc"

Superb room-large for London. Hotel staff are very attentive. Breakfast at £26pp is not worth it-eat outside-there are lots of choices in the vicinity, which are far better value

"Nice Hotel "

The room was a good size and the bed way comfortable, there was no tea and coffee facilities in the room and had to pay if you wanted it, unless you have plenty of money you can`t afford to eat there. It is an ideal area for walking to all the shops and places of interest, it`s not too fare to walk to the theatre if you are fit.

"Location good but not a 5 star!"

Good location but more like a 4 star than a 5 star. We were given a free upgrade on arrival but the rooms were small and not very sound proof. Finishings a little worn, bedding had a hole in it and the divan sheets had seen better days.

"You don`t pay for the room!"

I would have expected much grander room for a 5* in Mayfair - I stayed at a premier inn the night before with a bigger room! However the staff were lovely, the position of rhe hotel - fab, the food at the Alyn Williams resturant was superb and the decor was suitably impressive. Breakfast was ok, but had it not been included in the price I wouldn`t have paid £26 for it! Would stay again if I got a good deal, but wouldn`t pay the hotel prices as not worth £600 for the room/breakfast we had. Oh and no mini bar prices so can`t say if that was overpriced or not but I assumed no price meant very pricey.
