A city offering different experiences around every corner, London ticks all the boxes as a perfect tourist destination. With a wealth of iconic sights, an array of excellent art exhibitions and a truly incredible live music scene, it comes as little surprise that hotels in London are so often fully booked with visitors from all over the world. While seeing Big Ben or witnessing the Changing of the Guard are some of the usual experiences that all sightseers are keen to tick off from their itineraries, here are some alternative experiences waiting to be discovered in the city.

1. With the London skyline being dominated by an urban forest of skyscrapers, gazing upon the cityscape is a fantastic experience in itself. However, it is one which is admired far better while sampling a glass of wine or pint of beer courtesy of one of the rooftop bars. While London doesn’t offer the perfect climate for year-round alfresco drinking, some hangouts to keep in your diary for the summer months include Aqua London, Queen of Hoxton and Coq d’Argent.

2. When the name Westminster Cathedral comes up, people think instead of Westminster Abbey, the venue which saw the world famous royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011. The Cathedral might not be as well known, but it is the mother church of the Catholic community in England and Wales. Its prized asset is the Bell Tower, offering a view across the cityscape from 83 metres in the air. With entry just £5 for adults and £2.50 for children and concessions, it offers a much cheaper alternative to view the city from the air.

3. We finish with a bus ride, but this won’t be your standard four wheeled tour of the city. The heritage bus routes offer the chance to take a ride on one of the capital’s most famous icons: the classic red bus. Despite the original Routemaster buses being decommissioned in 2005, visitors are still able to travel on route 9 and route 15, travelling from Kensington to Trafalgar Square and Tower Hill to Trafalgar Square respectively. With times and bus fares the same as modern services, it offers the perfect journey back in time for the whole family to enjoy.

With all this and more to be explored, why not take advantage of some of our fantastic hotel deals and discover the many faces of this fascinating city?
