The recently refurbished Noke Restaurant offers contemporary fine dining, while the Oak and Avocado Bar Lounge is suitable for more informal occasions. The Otium Health & Leisure Club is available to all guests and includes a fitness room, an aerobics studio, a hot tub, a sauna and a steam room. The large indoor swimming pool also has a spa pool. Getting there:BY CAR: Leave the M1 at junction 6, or the M25 at junction 21A, and take the A405, following the signs for St. Albans; Thistle St Albans is on this road, about 30 minutes` drive from London. 

BY TRAIN: Take the London Thameslink service from King`s Cross to St. Albans City station; Thistle St Albans is 3 miles by taxi. Alternatively, you can take the train at Watford Junction, which is 6 miles from the hotel.

"Hotel restaurant menu confusion"
Decided to book a table at the hotel restaurant as liked the look of the menu in our room. On arrival met by puzzled looking staff member. She took us to our table. Ordered drinks. Took ages to serve us. Presented with set menu for £22 which we said we didn`t want and would like to order from the menu in our room. We were then told we couldn`t order from that menu as it was for the other restaurant. We were not given a choice of restaurant when booking. The service all became a bit elusive . First we were told by a member of staff we could order from the other menu and then we were told by a different member of staff that we would not be able to order. Hence we paid for our drinks and left. This was all most unsatisfactory.
 I do think it would be helpful to have the name of the appropriate restaurant on the room menus to avoid any confusion.

"Very good."
Our experience of the hotel was very good however we did not eat in the hotel so unable to comment on the food.  We used the leisure facilities but was not given the code for the changing rooms only the code for leisure facilities entrance.  Comfortable bed, clean, hot water for bath.

We went there for my gf BDay and we had a great time. Hotel is very nice clean. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast in bed, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, gym. Definitely will go again.

"Needs updating"
We waited 20minutes in the que to check in the check in staff seemed very disorganised. The corridor upstairs smelt of old smoke it appeared to be ingrained in the carpet. Not impressed at all for a supposed 4 star hotel.

had to wait nearly 10min to check in. not enough staff at the reception area... ana the receptionist didn`t apologise for the wait and didn`t seem very friendly

"Great Staff, Lovely Room"
We stayed here as part of my son`s rugby tour and had an excellent time, the room was very comfortable, clean and cosy. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming, they did everything to make our stay wonderful. I would highly recommend this hotel especially for any big events. The food too was very good both in the evening and the following morning with a wide choice and relaxed atmosphere. Thank you Thistle for a great stay.
