"terrible noise from the exractor fans "

the room was clean but small which you can do nothing about , but the noise was horendus from those big extractor /air condioning fans in the middle of the hotel we had no sleep at all , the room was cold and when we switched the heating on we did not get any ,Secondary double galzing would have cured the problem with the noise , there were serveral of my friends stay at the hotel as well and they all said the same ,this hotel needs to take note of this complaint and not just brush it aside ,

"Fantastic period features and good central location, adjacent to tube and close to mainline stations"

Overall good value if you can get a `deal`. Can be noisy if your room is at the back of the hotel overlooking Herbrand Street, but this is central London and the city never sleeps!

"Excellent Hotel "

Excellent hotel cannot fault the stay. The room was small but well equipt with everything that you required and spotless. The staff were helpful and friendly. We paid extra for breakfast and was not disappointed, plenty to choose from, it was hot and fresh. This is a grand old hotel and will definitely be booking again.

"excellent and good value"

Great to spend a comfortable night in a convenient hotel that`s part of the history of London at such a reasonable price. Recommend it,but get breakfast elsewhere.

"Good but...."

Early morning (6am) noise at the back of the hotel. Mattress was awful and bed creaked every time we moved however good value for money and the room was very nicely decorated and very clean. Personally I would have preferred to sacrifice the bath giving a smaller bathroom allowing for a proper size double bed.

"Good location for a show"

Having only stayed 1 night we found room very comfortable & clean the Hotel is a beautiful building inside & out & in a good location for a show & covent garden, but we were very dissapointed in the Afternoon Tea which I had booked over the phone the previous week & no one had any record of our booking. A very helpful member of staff did eventually sort us a table but in all honesty for the price we paid £49 for the 2 of us it was very poor & would not reccomend it .overall our night at Hotel xxxxx was good.

What a beautiful hotel, full of character and very lavish, staff were very helpful and very pleasant, even though it was very busy when we checked in the staff dealt with everyone quickly and curtiously. Our room was a double on the 4th floor, which was small buy very well kitted out and had everything that we needed, the only down side with the room was that it was at the back of the hotel and we could hear the air conditioning units coming on and going off from the outside. Both my husband and i would not recommend the breakfast as at £12 pp, the food on the hot buffet was cold. The location is excellent as it is only a minutes walk from xxxxx Square tube station, and easily accessible to theatre land which was the purpose for our stay to see the wonderful Jersey Boys We would both recommend this hotel but not the breakfast, and will book to stay again

"Great location"

We stayed at the xxxxx for 2 nights. The customer service is very efficient and check in/out was fast. We stayed in a standard double room. The room was a decent size although we faced the inside area which has all the power generators etc so it was a bit noisy. The bathroom was really big. Only downside is the size of the bed in the double room - the rooms are easily big enough to take bigger beds and it was a bit cozy in a small double...but a minor issue and we were happy with our choice.

"Great Location Very easy to find and tube just around corner!"

The staff were very accomodating on our arrival, our rooms were clean modern and very comfortable, excellent for a short stay. The only negative is it would have been lovely if the fire in the bar had been lit (it was a very cold weekend).

Not offered help with baggage only to encounter some steps part way along corridor to room! When leaving no offer of help to load waiting taxi from staff at door. Room fine.

"TV had no signal...I found that the coax cable was disconnected. "

Good first impressions with concierge and staff on reception! We loved the dated grandeur of the marble staircase. and general design. Windows in our Room (119) at rear of hotel had not been cleaned for months. The heating system ( warm air fan ) was noisy. Breakfast was ok not anything more than standard.

"Tiny bathroom and poor breakfast"

The bathroom was so small that the sink as squashed between the bath and wall and it had a large towel rail in front of that. The gap was so small that my god-daughter burnt herself on the towel rail. For £19 per breakfast, I really expected my food to be freshly cooked, instead it was a buffet, it was cold, the hotel water ran out, the bread and eggs ran out and they didn`t have enough tables for customers so we ended up in the lounge eating off low tables. On the plus side it was very clean.

"Grand Reception area, Hotel was comfortable and welcoming even though bathrooms were a little small."

Enjoyed the stay at the xxxxx only to be let down by the breakfast which was a disaster, Soiled table cloths! Hot buffet style with long ques only to find food was cold or had run out, waited for plates cutlery etc, not enough staff.............. go out for your breakfast!

"Very good stay"

efficient booking etc. thought reception are gets clogged with guests despite three members of staff. Concierge helpful and knowledgable. Room good nice big bathroom. Overall an excellent stay. Lifts unbelievably small but I take the stairs anyway and was on the first floor.. Beautiful building and interior. Did not take breakfast as I don`t in hotels anyway. Overall an excellent stay.

"Good location."

Booked hotel for weekend break with sister. Good location as round the corner from xxxxx Square Station. There is a lovely shopping centre set up (Brunswick Centre) and other shops around. I would use Hotel again. My only criticism was there was no fridge in the room and the caddy with the tea, sugar etc could have been better stocked. We had to ask for more tea bags, which were provided with no difficulties. Overall, a nice hotel. Wish I had been able to buy something that gave you a bit of history about the Hotel. Will have to visit again to see it in better weather. Staff very helpful and friendly. Bernard - Concierge a big thank you to you for your warm approach and assistance. We love your accent.

"Really nice"

I stayed here for 3 nights, staff were lovely, room was clean and tidy, and location was fantastic. I also found the room to be very cozy and warm as it was freezing in London. There was also lots of teas and coffee in the room, and my room was refreshed every day.

"Beautiful hotel with great location"

Had booked a single room but s put in a large twin room which was lovely. Quiet room but great central London location. Only quibble is the charge of £15 for wi- if which seems a bit steep
