"Excellent service"

The staff were polite friendly and extremely helpful which added to our experience. The hotel is stunning and the room was comfortable. It was everything we could ask for

"Needs MUCH better wherlchair access"

Needs to organise a better/easier way for wheelchairs to get into Hotel - must be another entrance they can use? Also ridiculous to have to pay for wi-fi these days - should be free everywhere. Great full English breakfast!

"Lovely historic building, central location - close to theatres, Covent garden and shopping. "

Thoroughly recommended. Wonderful find, with lovely relaxed atmosphere in communal areas. Rooms adequate and clean though bathroom rather compact - would`ve struggled if we were on the larger side! There are more modern hotels offering those extra comforts, but we would rather stay where there is old fashioned charm and the customer is looked after. Breakfast choice for most tastes and excellent service from staff and concierge. Check out George on the second floor for a bit of surprising history. Four of us stayed for overnight theatre trip - we would all definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our stay very much, the hotel is beautiful and the staff were very helpfull , just a couple of very minor points, there was a loose area of carpet beside our bed which could of caused a trip hazard and the loo roll holder was hanging off the wall , only minor things I know but it`s these little details that help hotel stay ahead of the rest. I would definitely use the xxxxx again and would certainly recommend it to anyone who asked

"Great breakfast, excellent location, average stay"

AC didn`t work & windows didn`t open. Maintenance couldn`t sort. Hotel moved luggage to new room whilst we were out so we couldn`t unpack til late. Booked room at rear. Loud street noise - shouting - 1am. Excellent breakfast but had to Queue!. Internet £15/ 24hr !! On bus route, tube 50m.

"lots of traffic noise"

Didn`t really spend much time at the hotel, but it was ok clean, friendly staff, they didn`t show the tiny room we stayed in on their website which was also really noisy all night from traffic even though we were on the 7th floor!

"Very well located for Theatreland. Excellent breakfast. "

This was a marvellous venue and in almost every respect lived up to expectations. However, we were unable to open the windows in our room and the a/c could not be set lower than 19C, so the night was rather too hot. Also small items like tea bags, milk and toiletries were very limited indeed; e.g. only 2 tea bags.

"Enjoyable stay in this traditional hotel"

We quite often tend to stay in fairly modern hotels when we go to London but it made a nice change to stay at the xxxxx which had character & the feel of a hotel with a bit of history. Lovely staff & a nice clean room & bathroom albeit with the smallest, lowest sink I`ve ever seen! Good shower pressure though which is always a bonus! The other great thing is the location, right on xxxxx Square with the tube literally around the corner and the shops and restaurants of the Brunswick Centre on your doorstep, very handy. We also received a lovely anniversary card and embellished cupcake, a nice touch. We would definitely stay at the xxxxx again.

"Beautiful hotel, good value and great location for Euston Station."

Everything was very enjoyable with our one night stay with the exception of our departure. We left our bags with the concierge on check out and returned late afternoon to collect these. During our day sightseeing, we realised we had left 2 gift bags in the fridge in our hotel bedroom. These were hand made gift wrapped chocolates we had made the night before at a chocolate making workshop we had attended in London. We asked the concierge to kindly check with housekeeping to see if the cleaner had handed them in. We were told they had not been, so we asked if the fridge could be therefore checked. This was duly done, and we informed they were not there as food tended to get thrown out. However, this was not perishable food, but gift wrapped chocolates, clearly not something we would want throwing away. We were very disappointed with the action of the hotel staff and were not even apologised to for the loss of our property. It spoiled what would have otherwise been a pleasant stay.

"Excellent location, sparkling clean, efficient service. "

Ideal for a visit to central London, arriving from St Pancras. I wanted somewhere convenient for visiting the British Museum and this was ideal. I would have rated it Excellent if there had not been a problem, overcharging me for breakfast. When I booked in this was offered for the special price of £12, which I accepted. The breakfast was excellent. I really enjoyed it and felt it offered good value. What I did not like was to be charged £18.50 for this meal on checking out. When I queried this and pointed out the error it was corrected, but a hotel of this standard should have a computor system that shows exactly who has ordered what. What makes me feel particulaly uncomfortable is that this hotel is obviously used by a lot of overseas visitors and someone who is not familiar with our language and currency could easily have been overcharged. A shame to spoil an otherwise great visit.

"beautiful decor especially stairway"

Our room was disappointing. There was no hot water from the hot tap on the basin even after running it for some time. If the bath tap was turned on hot water was available after about 3 - 5 minutes. The fridge was not switched on and the kettle had an extremely short lead making tea and coffee making difficult. There were no complimentary biscuits!! Our beds were very comfortable and both my daughter and I had a good night`s sleep. Everything was very clean. Breakfast was adequate but not very exciting. The toasters took ages to toast one slice of bread.

A great hotel in a fantastic location. Service was excellent. Rooms were great. We didn`t have the best view (overlooking xxxxx sq gdns) but considering we Spent most of our time out it didn`t matter, and we had picked this hotel as a Hidden Gem Hotel, so got great room rates Location was key. British museum was a 5 min walk, underground next door, Brunswick centre where there are some Great restaurants and shops 2 mins away. Would stay here again.

"Choices - Aircon generators or sirens"

We booked two rooms. One we were told was an upgrade and yes the room was bigger. But then it faced onto the main road and didn`t have soundproofing and all my parent in laws heard all night was drunk people and sirens. They said was that bad it was like there weren`t any windows. Then our room. The 4th floor and the view was of the aircon generators and as my other half put it she had to leave the bathroom door open as when her arm hung out the bed it was in another room! Then there was the price of drinks £21 for two glasses of wine, of which £4 was a tray charge as they were on room service, £8.50 a glass! The beds were also rock hard and very uncomfortable. The place is very tired looking and stinks of air freshener which only vaguely masks a musty smell throughout the hotel. The only redeeming feature is the bar area which has a lovely old reading room feel about it. Would I recommend this hotel? Not a chance!!

"terrible noise from the exractor fans "

the room was clean but small which you can do nothing about , but the noise was horendus from those big extractor /air condioning fans in the middle of the hotel we had no sleep at all , the room was cold and when we switched the heating on we did not get any ,Secondary double galzing would have cured the problem with the noise , there were serveral of my friends stay at the hotel as well and they all said the same ,this hotel needs to take note of this complaint and not just brush it aside ,

"Fantastic period features and good central location, adjacent to tube and close to mainline stations"

Overall good value if you can get a `deal`. Can be noisy if your room is at the back of the hotel overlooking Herbrand Street, but this is central London and the city never sleeps!

"Excellent Hotel "

Excellent hotel cannot fault the stay. The room was small but well equipt with everything that you required and spotless. The staff were helpful and friendly. We paid extra for breakfast and was not disappointed, plenty to choose from, it was hot and fresh. This is a grand old hotel and will definitely be booking again.
