"Great hotel"
Good hotel, only 2 tube stops from Kings Cross so in a good location. I would recommend.

"Comfortable ,clean and friendly"
Staff were so helpful and friendly at this hotel. Good choice of buffet breakfast and evening meals arent bad either. Great to have a swim and sauna before taking the scenic canal walk to Angel tube.

Booked theatre break for my husbands birthday and used use of a pool and spa so booked the Thistle Barbican got up for 8 to go swimming and it was closed. Checked the opening times which said 8-8 so went to reception after waiting in the corridor for 10 minutes to be told the outside company haven`t turned up to open . We wasn`t very impressed because I could of booked a nearer hotel to the theatre but chose this one because of the spa options.

great hotel clean and comfy, excellent meals at a good price as well , however we stopped every morning and questioned if we had paid for breakfast which we had however we were interrogated each morning as if we were not to be believed. i seen this happen to others but not everyone this tells me you have a problem with the communication from reception to the staff.

Had a problem with the breakfast charge.... booked for Sunday for the two of us then on the last morning of our stay we booked again as we had a lazy day in between but got charged for breakfast we didn`t have. WATCH these for this. I got a final bill after having got it removed from my invoice after about 15 minutes convincing them we hadn`t taken the breakfasts we had been charged for. They eventually checked their morning sheet which confirmed it. But they would have charged us had I not challenged it. Not a very good experience otherwise hotel was ok

"A bit basic"
We ordered a Dulux hotel room but l`m left wondering where the Dulux part came in!? The room was quite basic, compared to other Dulux hotel rooms, l`ve stayed in. The food in the restaurant was decent and reasonable value, for that area.

"Good Value Accommodation"
Enjoyed a two night stay at the Thistle Barbican. Our room was adequate in size, appeared recently refurbished, nicely equipped (including fridge!) with good bathroom and sleeping facilities. The staff were friendly and efficient and it was a good overall experience representing value for money. There are gym/leisure facilities including a good sized swimming pool. We didn`t eat in, but the dining facilities were attractive and reasonably priced. The part of London in which the hotel is situated is close to the City and so is not busy at weekends, but the west end is easily accessible by bus or tube. It is nice to return to relative peace and quiet. The nearest tube is Old Street, which is a ten minute walk away (or less). The hotel boasts a cocktail and main bar. Recommended.

Hotel was okay, extremely long way from the theatre, much further than stated, break did not include breakfast or parking which was another £54. I would have hope that information should have been made a lot clearer on the booking

"A gem of a hotel tucked away but within easy access to London shows by public transport."
Excellent room and service throughout the two days. Staff very helpful, polite and efficient. The swimming pool an added bonus, Very filling breakfast with plenty of choice for all diets. Nice touches such as fresh iced water with a choice of flavours in the foyer area to welcome guests. We hope to return again soon, I would highly recommend this hotel.

A nightmare to find at night from the tube station. The bright clean reception didn`t translate to our room. Mould on bathroom roof and no extractor fan working in bathroom. The room looked a little tired. The fan was a godsend and we preferred it to air on as quieter. Great breakfast though

"Not 4* room"
Chose this hotel in conjunction with the theatre as a 40th birthday treat. On line the hotel looked lovely, boasting 4*. The staff were very friendly and helpful however the room was in dire need of updating. Carpets stained, furniture old and tatty, Old bathroom with limescale and staining that had built up over some years. Not as clean as I would have expected, previous occupants rubbish still in the bin. No air conditioning and no way to open a window with a quilt that was far too heavy meant nights were uncomfortably hot. Not the luxury break I`d wished for.
