"Warm welcome & helpful staff"
Well equiped mid priced hotel, a little way from the nearest tube stations if you want the west end & the sights but efficient check in / check out and very helpful staff made the stay a pleasant one.

"Lovely stay - will be returning "
Hotel went all out to make the start of our honeymoon special - processco, flowers, balloons, upgrade and 2 free breakfasts. Staff were really friendly - unfortunately didn`t get any names! My partner and I both said we`d love to stay again. One very slight let down was the fire alarm tests on the Monday morning when we were trying to relax. I understand these legal requirement but perhaps after check out would be better or just a heads up on check in. - thank you for a lovely stay!

"Deluxe room was a box room by the service lifts"
A Christmas treat which was to be honest a disappointment. Our deluxe room wasnt...We ordered room service which was good but our room was constantly crashed n bashed with service doors I expected better for over £300 for two night break..shame id hoped more from a thistle hotel.

We were not too worried about the fact that the room was no bigger than a large rabbit hutch as it was clean and we were only there to sleep. That unfortunately was made very difficult as we had a large generator outside our window which kept me awake for most of the night.

welcome reception, efficient and clean. Room clean well serviced and fit for purpose. Pool, sauna, steam leisure area filthy, uncomfortable in fear of it being germ riddled , steam vent very dangerous, pool lane separator disgustingly dirty, floor mopping debris around, no jacuzzi! Left to go out of hotel, came back to collect bags, turned the corner , 4ft pain of glass fell from 4th floor onto pavement...lucky to be alive!!! had train to catch, went on our way shocked but happy to be alive.

"Tidy room"
Beds very comfortable, choices of seats in room. Bathroom clean, good choice of toiletries, coffee and tea facilities good, granddaughter missed the hot chocolate. One bed had stained mattress protector, sheets clean. We all had a good night sleep. Breakfast excellent, staff in restaurant very nice and helpful, especially the older lady at breakfast 13/12/2019.

Nice hotel with a very well equipped gym and pool with steam room and sauna. Breakfast was one of the best I`ve had in a hotel for a long time, other food in the hotel was limited, and the bar could have done with having a bitter on draught o.k. if you like lager , if you wanted a restaurant style food you best eat out, we tended to have breakfast and then eat out in town about 3-4 pm. The nearest underground station was a 15 min walk to Barbican Station. But on the whole I was pleased and would use this Hotel again.

The lift was out of action when we arrived. These things happen but we were not informed upon arrival - I mentioned it to the receptionist." I have just thought of that because your rooms are on the 5th floor. If you wait for a couple of hours we may find alternative rooms but the lift should be fixed shortly." We decided to therefore accept the rooms. However, when we returned to the hotel later there was a notice hung on the lift door saying "Out of Use". No notice of apology/explanation in reception and the staff just kept saying it should be fixed within the next hour or so. In fact, it was not mended before we checked out the following day. I am surprised that the management didn`t seem to appreciate that for many guests it was quite a struggle using several flights of stairs 2 - 3 times during the day. It wouldn`t have made the climb any easier but it would had been good PR to perhaps offer a complimentary breakfast, or at least a cup of tea or coffee !!

"Faulty Fire Alarm"
The Fire Alarm came on at 4.45am my wife threw on her dressing gown and commenced down Stairs whilst I telephone reception,Duty Manager and could not get any sense.The alarm stopped in the meantime my Wife arrived at the ground floor escape door ,nobody there.She met a kitchen staff member who hadn`t.t heard anything and told her to use the lift.Instead she talked to a Fire Officer as a Fire engine had arrived. We both went back to bed only to be awakened again as the alarm started again this time everyone used the stairs as two fire engines had arrived.W e all waited in the street for 45 minutes.At no time was there any apology from the staff.Had there been a real fire the first time what a tradgedy as the staff where not organised at all.A shocking experience that spoilt our weekend.

The section we stayed in, in the conference centre was a bit tired looking and the lifts weren`t working at the time we were there, but it served its purpose and the bath with lovely hot water was a delight.

It was my husband`s 60th birthday and the hotel gave us a bottle of Prosecco and as we`d booked room only they gave us our breakfast free for 2 days! The room was a good size and very clean and comfortable. Everything you need in the room, fridge with bottles of water, iron and ironing board and a choice of a basic hotel hairdryer or a salon style hairdryer which was in the wardrobe. The breakfast was excellent with choice of continental or cooked, we didn`t use the pool but next time we visit we will use it. We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night, between 5-7 there is a fixed price menu, 2 courses for £17.50 or 3 for £21.50. Excellent value and the food was amazing. I had the steak and my husband a salad and the portions were very good. The service was excellent too, far better than the service we had in the Aqua Shard! The hotel is about 10 minutes from the tube so a good location too, all in all a brilliant weekend and we`ll definitely return.

"Noise at night."
General Good, but my room was beside the corridor exit door. Thus when someone in or out, the exit door moved to the closed and made noise. Apart from that, no other problem.

Very pleasant staff across the hotel. Although the hotel generally, seems a little tired & in need of re-furbishment, it was very clean. The swimming pool is of a good size by comparison with many hotels, & location was good for this particular visit.

"Bar staff are utterly useless "
The hotel reception staff are excellent and extremely helpful as are the spa staff. The rooms are a good size clean and comfortable all in all a nice place to stay with good links to all parts of London. Our only complaint is the bar staff, there are two bars one bar next to reception had 3 staff who although were polite found it hard to understand simple drinks orders but we got there eventually. The second at the back by the lifts the staff ignored us completely were rude and just stood talking to each other so after 10 minutes of trying to get served we left. This turns good experience to one we will not want again this is why we will not be returning to this hotel
