Situated in 16 acres of grounds and gardens, the 3* Derwentwater Hotel is just a 5-minute walk from Derwent Water Marina, for boat hire and water activities such as kayaking and paddle boarding (hire season 1st April-31st October) The lake is also a popular with walkers, due to its beautiful views and walking route which passes along the shoreline and through woodland. For more challenging walks visitors can also admire the views from Friar?s Crag which is 2 miles from the hotel or Skiddaw which is approximately 6 miles. Keswick, a popular town with visitors to the Lake District just a mile away, 24 minutes walk or a 6 minute drive. Just 15 minutes walk from the hotel is the Derwent Pencil Museum dedicated to the pencil industry.

Getting there:

BY ROAD: Heading north on M6 exit at junction 41 for the B5305 exit to Wigton. At Catterlen Interchange, take the 5th exit onto M6 slip road to Penrith. Merge onto M6 and after 2.4 miles at junction 40, take the A66 exit to Penrith/Keswick/Brough. At Skirsgill Interchange take the 4th exit onto A66 and after 1.1 miles at the roundabout take the 3rd exit to stay on A66 for the next 15.6 miles. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Keswick Byp/Old Coach Rd/A66 and continue to follow this route for the next 1.3 miles. Turn left onto Portin Scale and after 0.4 miles turn left and the hotel will be on the right.
