"Disappointing "
Third stay at principal hotel previous stays were fantastic unfortunately not third time lucky. Room very small compared to previous stays, unable to open window blind as broken. Constant water running in toilet bowl. As it is beside the train station expect the noise from passing trains but the constant tannoy train announcements very loud woke us every morning .

All the staff I came in contact with were so helpful and welcoming. House keeping was good.suggest soft close on wardrobe doors. Disappointed with catering, not surprised restaurant had few customers. Suggest more training and a more varied menu.

My room was small, stuffy snd dingy. The noises from the train screeching in and out of the station was so loud I couldn`t leave my window open. Breakfast was £19.95 and not worth the money. I felt the £500 which it cost me for my stay, including the train fare was far too expensive for what was offered. W e asked to change rooms, but the hotel was fully booked. We were offered another room for the second night but we had a wedding to attend so didn`t have time to wait around for it to be cleaned.

This is a lovely hotel - right next door to the station but peaceful. Our room - decorated simply but in a contemporary style - overlooked the back of the hotel which encompassed the car park area and garden. Lovely high ceilings in room, loads of space and charming and friendly staff. The pool and facilities were an added bonus at the end of a day walking around the beautiful city of York.

"Rooms too hot."
The rooms are overbearingly hot! The beds are comfy but the mattress seems to generate more heat. My husband ended up sleeping on the floor as the whole room was very hot and stuffy. We mentioned to the girl on reception and she just said yes the rooms do get warm? The service, breakfast and rest of the facilities were fine. Very central position for both railway station and city centre.
