The Show
Equus follows the story of both Alan Strang and his psychiatrist Martin Dysart. The two meet after Alan blinds six horses and he is put into therapy with Dysart in order to help him come to terms with the horrific incident. Dysart himself is also struggling as he finds his own life mundane and has violent dreams of sacrificing children. The further Dysart is taken into Alan's twisted world the more he questions his own life and sanity. Please Note: The show features strong language, nudity and adult themes and is not suitable for audiences under 16.

History of Equus
Equus was written in 1973 by Peter Shaffer after he heard of a horrific crime in which a 17-year-old blinded six horses. He then began to write a fictional tale about what might have led to the horrific incident. The show originally ran in London from 1973 until 1975 at the National Theatre. When the show moved to Broadway, productions saw the likes of Sir Anthony Hopkins and Richard Burton taking up the role of Dysart. The play was adapted into a film starring Richard Burton and Peter Firth which received mixed reviews with many stating the film lost some of the spirit of the play.
