The Show Start spreading the news...Sinatra The Musical is heading to the West End! You know the music, now meet the man! It's 1942, New Year's Eve, a skinny 27-year-old Italian American singer is about to change music history with his first performance on the stage of New York City's Paramount Theatre. But as he rises to fame and his voice captures the nation, Sinatra's heart is torn between his wife Nancy and beautiful movie starlet Ava Gardner. The turbulent scandal coupled with hostile press threatens his blossoming career, but he is determined to fight against his fall from grace and stages the greatest comeback in show business history.
History of Sinatra The Musical Sinatra The Musical is written by two-time Tony award-wining writer Joe DiPeitro (Memphis the Musical, What's New Pussycat?) and directed and choreographed by three-time Tony award-winning Kathleen Marshall (Top Hat, Anything Goes). Tina Sinatra approached Joe DiPietro to write a show to tell the story of how her father came to be the cultural icon we know today. DiPietro said "Tina's willingness to share the trials and triumphs of her father's life has enabled Kathleen, myself and this remarkable team of theatre artists to create the most revealing portrait ever told about the legend that is Frank Sinatra.' Tina Sinatra commented, "My dad used to always say, "If I can't feel it, I can't sing it." As a result, he wasn't just singing songs, he was recording an emotional diary of his life. And it's these classic songs that form the heart of Sinatra The Musical. Set against the backdrop of my father's meteoric rise, the show reveals a more intimate portrait of the man than any interview or headline ever could. And just like my dad, it's full of music and passion and humor. I am so proud to share his story -- our story -- at long last." The show was originally produced at The Birmingham Repertory Theatre where it played a sell-out season in 2023. The musical then had an invitation-only reading at the Apollo Theatre in New York City in November 2024 where it played with the full orchestra.
