History of The Devil Wears Prada
The concept was originally written as a 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger, based on her own life and experiences being an assistant to Anna Wintour on American Vogue. The book was a New York Times Best Seller for six months, proving to be a massive success. In 2006, the book was adapted to the very well-known film of the same name, directed by David Frankel and starring Hollywood A-Listers Meryl Streep, Anna Hathaway and Stanley Tucci.A theatre production of this story has been in the works for a number of years and received an industry-only reading in July 2019. The world premiere took place at Chicago's James M. Nederlander Theatre in 2022 and was an instant hit.
