The Phantom of the Opera first premiered in London's West End on the 9th October 1986 at His Majesty's Theatre. It celebrated its 10,000th performance on the 23rd October 2010, and is now still going strong. The West End production of The Phantom of the Opera was such a great success that it wasn't long before it was premiering in Broadway on the 26th January 1988. It was a massive success and swept all the theatre awards, including the Tony Awards and the Drama Desk Awards.
