The rooms are comfortable & a decent size. The buffet breakfast is excellent every thing you could possibly want. We did have one evening meal at the hotel, this is possibly the only area for improvement,maybe the hotel could employ a more creative chef.

Rooms very small, hardly any draw space Disappointed only one basin in bathroom Rooftop terrace bar - couldn`t order a coffee, ordered an icecream and 20 mins later still hadn`t arrived! Spa swimmingpool very small and if you had two people on the floating beds there wasn`t enough room for two people to have a swim lengthwise.

My friends and I were very impressed with hotel 1898. It is situated in a fanatastic location. The rooms were extremely comfortable. The roof top terrace, bar and heated pool were superb. The indoor spa and pool were great also. We could not have wished for anything more.

This is a great hotel in a great location. We have stayed twice and had a fantastic time on both occasions. Rooms are luxurious and modern with massive comfy beds.

The hotel staff were excellent and pleasant. Towels and sheets changed every day and sometimes towels twice per day. This was excellent. Spa great and I really enjoyed this. Maids kept rooms clean. Would have used the hotel for food if we had a better idea what they were offering. Too much fish and not enough for people who were none fish eaters. Also inviting people to come to hotel between 1700 and 1900 for free cup of tea- wallah - better a free drink possibly.

The hotel was immaculate and one of the best we have ever stayed in. We would definately recommend to anyone wishing a central location in Barcelona and they were very child friendly.

Superb location, extremely helpful staff, good restaraunt - would defintitely go back. Only slight drawback was that the rooms were too hot at night for my tastes and the air conditioning didn`t seem particularly effective.

"Our Easter stay at Hotel 1898 Barcelona was Fantastic"
Hotel in great location had rooms overlooking interior courtyard but these were very quiet and the staff looked after us very well. Towels changed on average twice a day, great breakfast spread. Worth the extra for such a lovely spa, heated roof top pool & great location. Much cheaper booking thro Hotel Direct.

ideal location,upon arrival we were given an upgrade room spec was to a high standard and it was cleaned twice a day.Breakfast offered a wide variety to cater for most palets.The roof top pool area is a great way to unwind and relax.The only complaint was the poorly stocked mini bar and no room service after 11pm.But would definatly stay at the hotel again.

Having just got back from Barcelona today I can highly recommend a stay at 1898 on La Rambla. The building itself is beautiful and is a perfect spot to see the city centre from on foot. Worth mentioning is the en-suite bathroom we had (standard room) which was better than some superior rooms I`ve stayed in. All in all it was ideal for our 3 day break. I can imagine the roof pool and terrace would be just what you`d need in the summer - for us there was a chill Northerly blowing which meant no swimming costumes needed....

Excellent stay - very polite staff - great spa and pools Don`t take concierge recommendation for tour bus - there are no bus stops, it`s got poor commentary and takes twice as long as expected.

This hotel is not worth the money they are charging. There is a distict lack of customer focus. The staff seems to be more interested in talking to each other than to provide the service they are there to give. Our stay was not helped by coming back tired to the hotel after 5 hours sight seeing and finding that the room had not been cleaned.

We had a wonderful stay, staff were very helpful and the breakfast was AMAZING! The roof top pool was really lovely and our room was kept very clean and tidy by friendly cleaning staff. The view was not the best from our room but the view from the hotal roof made up for it! Overall, thank you for helping us to really relax and enjoy our trip to what is a wonderful city.

I really enjoyed my time at hotel 1898. I was looking for somewhere really special to stay with my boyfriend in Barcelona and special i found! The hotel was perfect, staff were friendly and eager to please and the continental breakfast was exceptionally good. The only complaint i have was the size of our room, being quite small and the disappointing view. Had we stayed any longer than four days this would have been more of an issue.

Delighted with the room, with super bathroom, fluffy towels and high spec. Nice staff, good food and we enjoyed the roof terrace heated pool in February as well as the basement spa. Good location for all the attractions of barcelona. Will recommend

"A great base for a break in Barcelona. Quiet, clean, well equipped room. Excellent location."
Stayed here for 3 nights with my wife. Couldn`t have asked for anything nicer. Only minor gripe is that he steam room wasn`t working and there are only two loungers by the indoor pool - which, being February, we had to use. Otherwise superb. Excellent choice at breakfast and good service. The roof terrace must be an awesome place to catch some sun when the weather`s a bit warmer - great views in all directons. For excellent Tapas at very reasonable price try `Taller de Tapas` (sunday times recommended) - 5 mins walk away on Comtal.

The location makes this hotel great for sight seeing and from the outside it looks wondeful. First impressions carry on through the rest of the hotel, the rooms, the bar, the buffet breakfasts and the friendly staff. But don`t miss..... the roof top terrace, great to laze and read a book after a hard days sight seeing ot to enjoy a warm moonlight swim. And even more decadent is to sauna and steam before enjoying a swim in the beautifully vaulted spa. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back soon.

The hotel was really lovely but i found the front of staff checking us in not particularly welcoming. I would stay here again but probably try to get a room on the 3rd floor or above as the noise from the kitchen and restaurent could be heard on the second floor (we were in room 205.)There were corporate meetings going on when we arrived and the guests returned very late from a night out and were very noisy but not sure what the hotel could have done about that.The breakfast was good and the staff pleasant.Very well situated.

"Great Hotel"
We booked the hotel very last minute and so glad we did. The location is perfect, we walked out of the side door and we were on Las Ramblas. The rooms were very nice but slightly on the warm side even when the thermostat turned down. The room was cleaned and tidied twice a day. We also had breakfast included well worth the money with the option of champagne every morning. The pool, sauna etc in the basement were excellent and perfect after a day doing the tourist trail. Even in the rain we tried the the pool on the roof which was warmer than the main pool. Great hotel with very friendly staff.
