the staff were helpful but it is still in the 1970 s which is a shame the position is ideal I hope they manage the renovation successfully

only critism was the kettle cord in the room was to short and the aircon seemed to be on permenantly hot. not an issue for me and my wife as we just opened the window.

"Pretentious and Overpriced."

Hotel lacked atmosphere, some staff very rude, i.e they shut the door in your face or they don`t have the decency to say thank you for holding the door open for them. Breakfast would have been nice except for the fact they bring you out a bowl of delicious fruit then before you have chance to eat two mouthfuls they serve your eggs. I could have complained but there seemed little point in doing so. Would definitely not rate this hotel a 5* due to its lack of atmosphere and some of the staff`s attitude towards there clients.

"Could do better "

Staff excellent ,very helpful ...had problem with our room number 815 was moved to a different room..no problems .. Breakfast was a cook to order when arrived only lukewarm ,we had to catch our train so did not have time to complain ..rooms clean and fresh but was surprised to see paper cups where used for your tea/coffee making facilities did not expect this from a 5* hotel .... Would I stay there again maybe not

"Beautiful art deco bar and breakfast room"

good hotel, but let down by some details - e.g. I would not expect a cardboard coffee mug in the bedrooms in a hotel of this quality. The plumbing and bathrooms also required updating at the time of our visit, but this is being addressed but this is being addressed by the current renovation programme. Other than that good service and lovely breakfast, and very comfy bed

"Definitely not 5star"

At reception lack of basic information or advice. In room provided with kettle but no power point available to switch on-needed to obtain an extension lead!! Only 1 bedside table no room for a second. In breakfast room limited choice and restaurant staff do not listen to individual requirements.

The xxxxx xxxxx hotel was amazing and the staff were very helpfull. The only downside to the visit was a noisy guess on the next room that left the tv on all night.

"Disappointing room for a 5 star hotel...."

...Double room barely big enough for 2 adults , located in a tucked-away position with no view at all ...certainly not a good deal for the price . Staff good though .

"Very elegant in that faded British way"

I do know when you book these bargain breaks you don`t get the top notch rooms but.... Although room was quite adequate, we were on the 8th floor, & the noise from air conditioning units? Was like being xxxxxed next to a HGV vehicle fridge unit in a layby all night! Otherwise a lovely stay.

"Nice hotel, but average rooms, not 5 star"

The room is more 3 star than 5 star, nothing special about it. I have stayed in alot more better 4 star accomodation. Not even any kettle or tea and coffee facilities in the room. Bathroom ok except showe head in middle of bath, rather than at the end.

"Room tiny and bath appalling!"

Having requested a "nice" room or possibly an upgade via email to the hotel being as it was a special birthday treat for my wife, I was very disappointed in the room. The view was basically looking out to the air-con units via a very small window. There were stains on the carpet and also on the one chair that could just about fit in the room and when the room service turned up for breakfast the delivery person could just about fit the table in. She commented that "it was a very small room"!! With regard to the bath, there was bubbling via the plug hole which deposited black debris into the bath which was slimy and I believe may be due to the drains being blocked. We obviously did not get the best double room in the hotel and I found the room a real disappointment.

"Don`t listen to the critical reviewers!!"

Fabulously located hotel, for a very good price given the prices of other hotels located nearby. Granted the decor in the bathroom was a little tired, but that didn`t detract from the overall experience. My stay was nothing but positive and I wouldn`t hesitate to stay there again.

"The Rooms did not have a 5 star luxury ,although the beds were very comfortable"

The front entrance to The Hotel as seen on the internet does look very nice but The reception area is at The rear of the building and seems more like a railway station so our first immpression was somewhat disapointing also the Rooms do have very dated furniture and The bath/shower very small limited to get into a walk in shower would be far more acceptable also Breakfast we had to wait in a queue to have a table prepared when we finished breakfast the queue was even longer down the steps and into the seating lounge , The staff in the dining area were very helpfull and accomodating even though they were very busy

how ever room was a little dark and very hot had no tea an coffee as I found out wen we woke breakfast was very nice choice of food if u had cold food hot food ran out of everything had to wait a long time to be refilled then everything was cold and other hot food had ran out had no beans sausages or eggs with my English breakfast orders of eggs but they never came no butter or sauces had to ask for everything with a long wait. we was told the chef was alone. everthing else was good but still had a great weekend hotel direct was great gave me everything I needed without asking we will us then again and I have already recommend them to friends. regards Sam

Having read TripAdviser before travelling,we were dis heartened to read several scathing reviews.We sat off wth some trepidation and need not have worried.Wehad earlier secured3nightsfor2and were so pleased to be shown to alight airy room overlooking Green xxxxx.We have been very comfortable in the hotel with helpful and efficient staff.Well done and thank you for a lovely stay

"Great Location"

This is a good hotel and we will return. Room was comfortable, very warm, loads of hot water, adequate facilities in room although the absence of a kettle to make a cup of tea felt quite lacking (sometimes not in the mood to go downstairs and room service can be intrusive). Staff are very helpful and pleasant and go out of their way to assist. Breakfast was adequate but not the tastiest/freshest we`ve ever had. In all, good value - thank you

"Comfortable room, excellent position, Palm Court ambience excellent"

We enjoyed a very pleasant time here. The staff were all very helpful and attentive. However the promised coffee/tea making facilities were not delivered to our room until a second request was made many hours later ! The final bill was also wrong but in fairness it was corrected very quickly by the front desk. Overall a good hotel that we will use again.

"Pretty average london hotel"

Not what we expected from a 5 star hotel = room cold and pretty basic. No tea/coffee making facilities had to call room service to ask for this. Breakfast - staff unfriendly had to wait for a table to be made up even though there were several laid for two. Cooked breakfast cold and not good quality. Pastries stale and waiter asked if we wanted toast and then never gave us any. No top-ups of coffee offered.. Only saving grace was the muesli. Thank goodness! Reception staff friendly and competent. Would not stay there again if given an option of hotels nearby. Do not believe this can be a five star!

Pounding bass from a disco in the hotel made sleep impossible till midnight. Staff were sympathetic but unable to do anything.

Great hotel and staff however we had no hot water at the bath and no cold water in the shower! The problem was dealt with but no sincere apology was offered leaving us feeling a bit let down
