"Lovely room, courteous staff, good position"
I spent 2 very pleasant evenings at the hotel. The room was large with plenty of light and air and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was convenient for the book festival and the railway station. Staff were courteous and helpful.

"Greeting was friendly, we were shown to our suite."
The Suite was very basic, there were holes in the walls which was patched up badly, the wall paper was coming off the walls in places but the decor was clean and fresh. The rooms were clean and the towels were changed daily, however the Scotish breakfast was warm rather than hot. During the night there was a constant humming noise, the traffic was loud being it was on a main road, upto three thirty in the morning there were constant loud noise from people who had been out partying. We was at the front of the hotel, it may have being quieter we were at the back of the hotel.

"Great Value - Great Hotel"
Nice spacious, clean and warm room. Reception, Porter and Housekeeping staff nice and friendly. One small point was even when the lock was firmly in place the window seal on the double glazing was not effective, there was traffic noise, and a draught from the window and the vent at the top was not operational. Breakfast was too expensive at £14.95 + £5.00 tray service (especially if you only want cereal and toast) Otherwise the hotel was great - we`d certainly staff again

"Great Hotel"
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the King James. The service from all staff was excellent and the hotel was lovely and clean, with great food. It is situated in the heart of the city and a good base for all the attractions. I would highly recommend this hotel and definately stay there again.

Good position near Princes Street. Staff helpful and friendly. Rooms well presented and clean. Rooms on the front a bit noisy Saturday nights a/o nearby bars.

"Noisey Awlful Bathroom "
I have been really dissapointed with my stay at the King James. I hardly got any sleep because of the noise outside, the Bathroom was in desperate need of an overhall. On my first day the shower was like a dripping tap and even on the hottest setting the water was luke warm. I went out each day to let room service clean my room, but when I got back they had not done it despite them being there for about four hours. It never got done during my stay as I was so tired because of my lack of sleep I gave up and on one occasion just asked for some clean towels. Never again.

easy check in nice room, helpful reception staff breakfast was good but if i had paid £14.95 each i would say it is too expensive you could go down the road and have a frankie & Benny`s for a fiver. i would revisit hotel short walk from train station in good central location. All in all top marks well done thanks.

"Alright hotel"
First impression of the hotel was not much from the view from the outside. However once inside it did look very nice. The room however was not great and something i would espect to see in a premier inn. Even though we upgraded the room i found this to be still a very average room. And not worth the upgrade at all. However staff are very friendly and found the breakfast very nice although it didnt have some of the advertised options available. The location was ideal however I wouldn`t choose to stay here again

there was a slight problem regarding our evening meal,the receptionist said we would have no problem getting an evening meal but there was a 30 minute delay. once we did get our meal the service was faultless and the food beautiful.

we have been on holiday all over the world,and this was one of the best hotels we have stayed in.the room not too big but was well clean,the food was excellent,and the staff very helpful and friendly. it was in an ideal location for everything Edinburgh had to offer.

"A First Class choice whilst in Edinburgh"
Really good deal. The location is excellent for both Princes Street and Ocean Terminal, jump on a number 22 Bus just outside the Hotel. The Playhouse Theatre is only 100 yards away,too. Breakfast was really good value. Last, but by no means least, my wife and I thought the Staff were first class, particularly the Front Desk ladies.extremely helpful and friendly.

wonderful location as 5 mins walk from Waverley train station. Nice pleasant room and helpful, friendly staff. As a solo traveller I felt comfortable in the bar and the hotel is attached to a shopping centre which was very much appreciated in the cold weather

"Great hotel, great location, next to Playhouse and connected to St James shopping centre. "
Check in was 3pm, we arrived at 2pm and our rooms were ready which was great. Very comfortable beds, modern style rooms, nice bar and great breakfast. It was good that we had up to 11am for breakfast and check out was noon. Hotel was a great location for shops, princes street and playhouse. Overall a great stay and would come back again.

We stayed 3 nights at st James Edinburgh. The bedroom was comfortable and clean and the food was excellent. No complaints although I would suggest upgrading the toilet roll to a softer brand- the toilet roll was quite hard and we ended up buying our own. Also we were unable to open the bedroom window

"Super position for the shopping"
Have stayed here severel times and have always emjoyed my stay staff very friendly. Good Breakfasts and lovely and handy for princess street. Will definately stay again
