Visitors looking to enjoy some shopping can take a stroll through the York Shamble, York`s most famous and oldest street, that was even mentioned in the Doomsday book. Getting there:

BY CAR: From Leeds-Bradford Airport. Leaving Leeds-Bradford Airport follow Whitehouse Lane for 0.1 miles and at the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A658 towards Pool-in-Wharfdale. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A659. Exiting Pool-in-Wharfdale follow the A659 for 4 miles. Continue onto the A61 for 1.1 miles before rejoining the A659 for a further 12 miles passing by Collingham and Tadcaster. Join the A64 East towards York for 5.5 miles passing by Copmanthorpe. Take the exit signposted: Copmanthorpe, Bishopthorpe, Askham Bar, Park& Ride Follow the A1036 towards the city centre for 0.1 miles. At the roundabout continue along the A1036 (3rd Exit) for a further 0.2 miles before truning right infront of the Hotel into Cherry Lane.
From Leeds Bradford International( LBA). Head for the A64 toward York. Leave A64 at A1036 exit and follow signs to city centre. The Holiday inn is on the left 2 miles along.
From Durham Tees Valley Airport( MME). Follow the A1(M) South and exit at J47 to York. Follow A59 for 10mile. At roundabout take 3rd exit onto A1237 for 3mile. At 2nd roundabout take 2nd exit onto Moor Lane for 1.2 mile. Turn Left onto Tadcaster Road and the hotel is on the right.
Manchester Airport( MAN). Join M56 north, then M60 north. Join M62 at J19 signposted Leeds. Leave M62 at J29 Join M1. Merge with A1(M). Leave A1(M) at next juction and join A64. Leave A64 at A1036 exit and follow signs to city centre. The Holiday inn is on the left 2 miles along.
By Train: York Station. Turn right onto Sation Rise. At traffic lights remain in the left-hand lane and turn right onto Blossom Street. Remaing in the left hand-lane, follow the road for 1.5 miles past the race course. The hotel is situated on the left after the church.
