The 3* Windermere Hotel has 75 comfortably furnished rooms, many of which have views of Lake Windermere. In-room amenities include flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, tea & coffee making facilities and hair dryer. Superior Rooms have a contemporary décor and enhanced amenities. Well behaved dogs are welcome to stay, the hotel has a number of pet-friendly rooms. This should be arranged a paid for directly with the hotel. There are lake views throughout the property and they are the main feature of the hotel`s restaurant and bar. There is also an outside terrace to enjoy a drink and relax after a day of exploring.

Hotel and location:

The Windermere Hotel, dating back to 1847 is in an elevated position above Lake Windermere, just minutes from the village and Windermere Station. Walkers who take the path to Orrest Head - just a minutes walk from the hotel, will not be disappointed by the magnificent views from the summit. There are also many walking routes around Lake Windermere, the full distance being 8 miles. If you are looking for a boat trip on the lakes, head to Bowness which is just 1.5 miles, 5 minutes drive from the hotel.

Getting there:

BY TRAIN: From Windermere railway station walk west on Station Rd towards High Street, Turn right onto High Street and then right again onto Church Street. Almost immediately make a sharp left and walk up to the hotel on the right.
BY CAR:From the M60 exit at junction 15 towards M61/M6 North/Preston/Wigan/Bolton and after 0.7 miles continue onto A666(M)/M61. Keep left at the fork to continue on M61, following signs for Preston. After 20 miles merge onto M6 and follow this route for the next 36.9 miles. At junction 36 exit towards A590 and keep left at the fork to merge onto A590. After 3.2 miles continue onto A591. After a further 5.2 miles at Plumgarths Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Windermere Rd/A591. Follow this route for the next 6.5 miles then make a slight right and the hotel will be on the right.
